Ace TOEFL together!

    Ended Mon, Sep 30, 2024

Are you an international student aspiring to pursue higher education in the United States? The TOEFL exam is your opportunity to demonstrate your English proficiency, but it can sometimes be challenging. While there are many SAT prep resources on schoolhouse.world, TOEFL support is rare. That's why I decided to host this series. What You'll Learn This series will primarily focus on the reading and writing sections of the TOEFL exam, aligning with the R&W subworld. However, rest assured that we will also cover listening and speaking skills. In short, we'll discuss whatever's on the exam (and maybe things not on the exam as well). Interactive and Personalized The exact content will be tailored to your current level of English proficiency, ensuring a personalized learning experience. We'll work through reading passages together and revise your writing samples to help you improve and grow. During speaking sessions, you may be invited to come off mute and answer speaking questions on Zoom, but participation is voluntary. Join Us Let's learn TOEFL together and seize better opportunities for higher education! (If you want to join as a cohost, please message me.)

Math for the August 2024 SAT

Tuesdays 2:00 AM, Thursdays 2:00 AM

Hi, I'm Yan, a travel enthusiast who also views learning as a fascinating adventure. My sessions are all very interactive, where This four-week tutoring series will help you prepare for your upcoming SAT in Math. By the end of the series, you will have completed multiple practice tests and worked through a number of problems from previous SATs, helping you build confidence for your upcoming exam. You'll spend each session with me and a small group of other learners who are also working towards taking the SAT. Since it's a small group, you can expect sessions to be very interactive as you work together towards improving your SAT skills as much as you can! Note: Cameras should be on so we can all get to know each other! If you have a specific reason why you can't have your camera on, please notify me ahead of time.

Calculus Quest: All About Differential Calculus

    Ended Mon, Jul 1, 2024

Even though summer break has already started, it's never too late to dive into something new and exciting. Over six days, we’ll explore the fascinating world of differential calculus together. Each session is 45 minutes long, perfect for a bit of brain exercise. Here’s what we’ll cover: 1. Limits and Continuity: Get to know the basics. 2. Introducing Derivatives and Their Properties: Dive into derivatives. 3. Derivatives of Basic Functions: Learn to differentiate with ease. 4. The Chain Rule: Master this essential tool. 5. Derivative Applications: See how calculus applies to mathematical situations and real life. 6. Recap, Exercise, and Q&A: Review everything, practice, and get your questions answered. I’ll keep things interactive, so you can share your thoughts and we’ll work through problems together. I learned differential calculus in ninth grade using online resources, and I was so excited by it that I aced the AP Calculus BC exam without ever taking the course. Now, I want to make this awesome subject just as fun and accessible for you. Our small class size means plenty of time for in-depth questions and discussions. Bring any calculus-related questions, and we’ll tackle them together. This series won’t be too difficult, but it will definitely be refreshing and rewarding. If this series goes smoothly and is well-received, I’ll follow up with an integral calculus series starting in mid-July. So, why not spend some of your evenings (or mornings, depending on your time zone) on this great adventure in learning? Let’s explore calculus together!

Electric Thrills: Mastering AP Physics C E&M

    Ended Sun, Jul 21, 2024

Hey everyone! I'm excited to invite you to my seven-day Electricity and Magnetism course (everyone interested can join, not just AP Physics C people). I’m a student who self-studied AP Physics C and aced the exam, and I’ve had a knack for physics since junior high. Analyzing complex physics situations and relating them to real life has always been a thrill for me, and now I want to share that excitement with you. Here's what we'll cover over the seven days (it's ultra flexible and can be adjusted according to your needs): 1. Electrostatics: Understanding electric charges and forces. 2. Gauss's Law: Applying this key principle to electric fields. 3. Capacitors: Exploring how these components store energy. 4. Circuit Analysis: Breaking down complex electrical circuits. 5. Magnetic Fields: Diving into the fascinating world of magnetism. 6. Electromagnetics: Combining electricity and magnetism in exciting ways. 7. Recap, Exercise, and Q&A: Reviewing everything, practicing, and answering your questions. Of course, if you have any physics questions related to E&M, bring it onto the table, and I'd be more than happy to have a discussion together. I know that electricity and magnetism can be less intuitive than mechanics, and it’s normal to struggle. But through our highly interactive sessions and the benefits of a small class size, we’ll tackle these topics together and make them more approachable. I’m really looking forward to working with you and sharing the pleasures of physics. Let’s dive into the world of electricity and magnetism and have some fun learning together!
