About

I am a self-taught software engineer from Bangladesh. I have achieved a perfect 800 on the Math section of the SAT multiple times, including on the previous paper-based version of the exam. My current R&W score is 680. I also have 6+ years of experience teaching Math, Physics, and English to 11th and 12th-grade students. In my free time, I enjoy reading books and watching tennis. When I am completely bored, I play metroidvania games such as Hollow Knight: Silksong. And currently, my efforts are directed towards going into a US college as a non-traditional student.

You recognized that students often fail not because they don't know the math, but because of "silly mistakes" (the square root vs. cube root issue). What worked well: Sharing your "huge list" of personal mistakes is a perfect adaptation. It shifts the focus from "learning a formula" to "learning how to avoid traps," which is where the real score gains happen on the SAT.

You were present and responsive until the very last person left. Managing a "one-on-one" request from Erica with a "Sure, let me know" shows that you are accessible and invested in their individual progress. What worked well: Your "No problem" and "Bye-bye" responses to each student made the exit feel personalized rather than abrupt.

Your closing was warm, encouraging, and high-energy. You created a "comfortable learning environment" by being vulnerable about your own past errors. What worked well: You successfully transformed a high-stress topic (SAT math) into a manageable, collaborative challenge. Calling students by name (like Jai) as they left is a small touch that makes a huge difference in building rapport.

What worked well: Technical Troubleshooting: You gave a clear, direct answer on how to handle subscripts in Desmos. Telling the student to just type "X" and then "1" without needing special formatting is a vital "pro-tip" for speed. with the subscript automatically formatted] Managing Expectations: You correctly identified that Geometry in Desmos is a completely different skill set from Algebra. Since the built-in SAT calculator doesn't have a dedicated "Geometry Tool" (like the separate Desmos Geometry Tool), students must learn to use coordinate geometry to solve shape problems.
