great orientation! Shadman's super friendly and considerate, and even though you say you're rambling it's all really enjoyable. I had a nice time getting to know everyone and I'm glad you make an effort to foster a respectful space at Schoolhouse. overall, it was great getting to learn what to expect for the course as well as creating our own schedule :)

Yo this session was fantastic, Shadman. I was grateful for the thoughtful responses you gave to our inquiries, and the exciting problems you presented. The fact that several of the problems you gave us were applications from our earlier sessions made me quite thrilled since it made me realize that I actually learned something 😆. Also, thank you for acknowledging our thought processes as opposed to just the results (i’ve made a lot of arithmetic mistakes so I greatly appreciated you doing that), and for having faith in our ability to find solutions even if it takes us a long time (though it’s probably just me who takes long lol) to do so.

He is really passionate about the subject and even more about getting it across to his students.

This session reminded me a lot of the Indian YouTubers, except it was a lot better! I really enjoyed Shadman's charisma, which helped keep things interesting. I also appreciated the after-session notes; it ties nicely into specific contests (AMC 10/12 in this case), which I don't see very often if at all.

This made me excited to do math! It’s always fun to attend Shadman’s sessions since I always learn something new that I never would’ve known if I haven’t attended. It’s always fun to learn something today that I didn’t know yesterday. I’ve been introduced to a lot of new terms such as the inradius, incircle and the circumcircle. I loved how Shadman started from the very basics and worked his way up making everything easier to understand. It was pretty awesome how we were able to cover a lot in such a small time. I also enjoyed the problems that we covered since you wouldn’t need a calculator to solve. (Sorry I wasn’t able to reply in all of the questions since I was busy taking notes, I promise I was listening the whole time!)

Shadman provided a very comprehensive lesson. I definitely recommend attending his sessions! And he's really friendly too!

Next time try not to be mean. I was here to get your help and improve, instead you made me feel ashamed of myself. I wouldn't have been here if I knew how to do it already.

Learner · 2 yr. ago

Shadman was quite nice. He was really really chatty (which I consider a good thing for a tutor) and he knows how to create a friendly atmosphere that makes the learners open up. He's very open to discussions and questions so that's also a plus. Hope you get that gold thing in your profile lol

Learner · 2 yr. ago

Than you Shadman!

Thank you for making it a fun and informational session! I enjoyed the different mnemonics in order to memorize or easily recall the trig addition, subtraction properties. Thank you for being patient and working through problems with us at a challenging, but calm manner! See you around!

I love this session!!! I really hope you turn this into a series! Shadman, your explanations were really fun and the solutions that we all came up with were BEAUTIFUL!!! I love how we actually got to derive the formulas didn’t just memorize them. I love how you kept everyone entertained during the session!! Teachers like you keep math interesting and enjoyable. Have a nice Sunday!!!!!

Learner · 2 yr. ago

Really nice person with really good explanations. Enjoyed the session a lot!

Learner · 2 yr. ago

Very good at explaining to me the concepts of what calculus will look like. It's a shame that my computer died midway and I cannot rejoin the session, but looking forward to more sessions! Also, Shadman good job at being engaging, intuitive, and humorous especially at unexpected times! Thank you for the introductory to calculus even though you also had to cover another topic!

Learner · 2 yr. ago

I thought your introductory section was great and it made everyone more comfortable and relaxed. Really awesome job, you are an excellent, friendly and encouraging tutor! I have three strategies for you, you are already doing these things well I just wanted to emphasize them because I think they are very important : 1) really try to make the most of your time so learners can learn a lot from the session 2)ask learners questions to access their understanding. The objective of a tutor is that the learners’ will learn the content, the goal is not to teach something but make no effort for it to make sense to each individual. You did an awesome job and really followed that guidance by asking learners how they were doing and if it made sense . I wrote tip number 2 because I think that it’s important to reiterate the goal of tutoring: to make your learners understand, not for you to explain concepts because it doesn’t really matter if you teach at all if no one understands it. A lot of my teachers don’t teach to help their students learn they simply teach the material and don’t care if their students learn it so I like to really clarify the goal of tutoring to better be able to structure my sessions around the needs of learners. 3) finally, always be friendly to learners— You are a natural at this! Again amazing job, thanks for being so encouraging to the learners and helping them understand that they were totally capable of doing it; it just takes perseverance. Thanks for trying to accommodate to peoples’ time zones!

Hello Shadman, Great job on the session! I understand that you’re a bit nervous because it was your first session but I think you did pretty well. You were really enthusiastic all throughout so I didn’t even realize the time. I’m really looking forward to your future sessions, especially on the way you advertised it. Haha! Oh, and I loved how you were able to get everyone to participate. Have a great week!

Professor Shadman is the absolute best! He made the information so easy to understand, and hes truly gifted at what he does. I recommend him to anyone struggling in math, he will make sure you know exactly what you are doing.

Awesome session! I have learned so much in this series through your intuitive proofs and great teaching skills!

Learner · 2 yr. ago

Pretty fun! I’d recommend his sessions to anyone.

Learner · 2 yr. ago

Absolutely brilliant as always! Shadman had a nice lesson plan set up and it felt like one concept flowed into another. This session was extremely helpful and I learned so much!

Learner · 2 yr. ago

Shadman has a pretty wide knowledge about almost everything and he could answer all the questions you throw at him. I don’t know how he fit all of those info in his head, but it’s quite amazing.

Learner · 2 yr. ago

Hey Shad, Being in this class I see why you are the top tutor of School house. You were incredibly patient and nice, I learned a new way to remember the identities and the proof to ratios. It was fun solving the sides even though I was struggling at first. Thank you for your work in school house.

Tutor · 2 yr. ago

I always learn something new from your sessions, Shadman! Greatly appreciate it. It was truly “cool beans” as you say. I hope I’m using the expression correctly (I actually had to search up what cool beans meant after one of your sessions)

Learner · 2 yr. ago

One common misconception is that in order to teach, you only have to be good at the subject that you’re teaching. But even the smartest teachers could make a student lose interest in the subject if they cannot empathize with their learners. Everyone is aware at how good you are at math, but what stood out for me was your kindness and your willingness to teach. Thanks a lot for listening Shadman. :))

Shadman is an excellent tutor! As a student, you feel pushed to learn and try out new competencies, feel safe and supported in doing so and gain valuable feedback that helps you to improve. His teaching methods are great. Very clear and concise. Doesn’t waste your time explaining meaningless background information and always lectures with the intent to help you understand the material. He’s helped me understand content for calculus and is one of the best tutors that I’ve had. Recommending him is a no brainer.
