About

Hey! I’m Levent. A mildly chaotic human who happens to really enjoy helping people learn stuff without making it boring. I’m all about keeping things low pressure, easy to understand, and maybe even kinda fun (no promises though). Big fan of cool ideas, travelling, and making the most out of whatever comes my way. That’s about it, the rest is a work in progress... :) ✌️

Levent included active engagement by structuring the session around both pre-work and Socratic checks. He started the session by asking all present students to complete a 20-question Unit 1 quiz to ensure prior knowledge was assessed. He then launched into Unit 2 with a broad open-ended question about fun facts about cells. This led Mai to correctly recall key concepts. The highest point of engagement came during the interactive problem-solving phase where he dedicated time to a Surface Area to Volume ratio practice problem, asking Mai to calculate the ratio for a 4x4x10 block and to write the numbers directly on the screen. This forces her to actively apply geometry to the biological concept. He also used student questions about the vacuole and the difference between cytoskeleton and cytoplasm as starting points for further instructional discussion.

Levent was methodical about building the foundational understanding that My needed for all future genetics concepts. He established the very first step in analyzing a trait by noting that sketching out the parental Mendelian cross before drawing the Punnett square. Moreover, he gave strategic advice for studying as he told My she must prioritize understanding the mechanism (the general scientific concept) of a genetic trait more than the memorized examples (which specific trait is recessive). This good guidance lays a solid foundation and allows My to think like an expert in genomics and solve problems conceptually.
