You demonstrated a high level of adaptability. When the student was struggling with the first graph-based question, you didn't just give the answer. Instead, you broke down the problem by first asking him to restate the passage's conclusion and then guided him to look for that conclusion in the graph. Similarly, when he asked a broad question about how to avoid making the same mistakes on future inference questions, you adapted your advice, providing a practical strategy: "Try to always, always, always break down the passage." You also offered a useful grammar rule for independent clauses after he showed he didn't fully understand them. This ability to pivot and provide targeted, personalized advice is a sign of an experienced and effective tutor.

The session was definitely helpful, I liked how we went over all the requested topics!

Engagement was a major strength of your session. You immediately engaged the student by asking him to share his screen and show you the problems he got wrong. Instead of simply giving the answers, you consistently asked him to explain his thought process. For example, you asked, "Why did you choose option C?" and "Can you tell me what an independent clause is?" This approach is highly effective because it helps you diagnose the student's misconceptions and allows them to actively participate in their own learning. You also guided the student to find the answer on his own, for instance, by asking, "Can you tell me what the one thing is?" when reviewing the answer choices. This is excellent tutoring practice.
