Phrases like "you're so close" and "good job" helped normalize learning moments. You also validated his reasoning process during practice ("I like how you used process of elimination"), which clearly boosted confidence. Ending the session with positive encouragement was a nice personal touch. One thing you're already doing well is not putting pressure on the learner for their mistakes, so keep leaning into that.

You did a great job keeping the learner actively involved throughout the session. You consistently asked questions like "What do you think is going to happen? and invited Bhavith to explain mitosis phases, predict meiosis stages, and reason through practice problems. The whiteboard drawing activity was quite effective. Having him describe and label phases clearly improved his understanding. Continuing to use these open-ended questions and visual explanations will help reinforce the learner's confidence and increase their understanding overall.
