The first section is not applicable since this was an awards ceremony. However, you guys created a comfortable learning environment by being pleasant and friendly throughout the session. I also liked how you referred to your learner by name, since this helps them feel more included in the session and thus lets them gain more from it. Overall, keep it up, and great job!

Tutor · 8 hr. ago

This was not a session where students were taught, thus learners confidence was not an issue, but they created a comfortable environment where they allowed the students to quietly take their test and focus.

Tutor · 1 day ago

Thank you so much Margaret and the team, I really enjoy math competitions as a student really interested in STEM and I loved how well you took care of problems and managed time very efficiently even with such a large group. This was really fun for me!

Learner · 10 days ago

The competition was very well organized, from the host meeting before the start to the awards ceremony at the end, you were able to keep the competition moving on the schedule you had laid out before the session. The only reason this session was flagged for review was 2+ not helpful ratings, which is not unusual in a session of 72 learners, even though there were no major issues.

Tutor · 11 days ago

Thank you for the session! I learnt a new language and it was great!!

Learner · 17 days ago

I liked it very much. Thanks for hosting such competitions. Please do keep hosting in future too. Thanks a lot!!

Learner · 18 days ago

Hi ACSIMC Comittee! Thank you so, so much for this session, I loved it!

Learner · 18 days ago

You were able to show mastery in this specific topic by having to make a Kahoot for them with advanced questions, this shows that you were able to be able to grasp the concept enough to be able to make an advanced quiz for it.

Tutor · 10 mo. ago

They took into consideration feedback from leaners and provided them a reminder of how the series goes. They are reading the questions out loud and using student names. They did an outstanding job with helping students feel more confident by telling them that they did great. The only thing that I would like for them to improve is to provide a short explanation for each question if students only say the answer this would be helpful for those who are a bit shy.

Tutor · 11 mo. ago

Thank you for this session! Thank you for letting us know about the updates about the Schoolhouse Championship!

Learner · 11 mo. ago

The were very friendly and organized. They also were open to hear suggestions and provide guidance to understand the Championship.

Learner · 11 mo. ago

The jeopardy was really fun to spectate! I loved that all the hosts were patient and super friendly!

Learner · 11 mo. ago

It is an excellent idea to start of your session with an icebreaker: "If you could have 1 of these superpowers, which would you choose?" This question allows the learners to find out more about other learners and you both. It is a great idea to have learners do a Quizizz game! These games can be very fun yet educational. It is great that you recommended the learners other resources such as the SAT Mega Review. I noticed how effectively you utilized the annotation feature! This action made it a lot easier to comprehend tricky concepts. Especially Question 20 that includes geometry. This feature makes it easier for visual learners to understand the concepts you are trying to convey! Keep up the great work.

This has been my best experience of 2024. Meeting enthusiastic delegates exposed exposed me to a whole new environment of challenging myself positively. The informative session has further opened me to question how I can use my curiosity and knowledge to contribute to the quenching of global food crises. Geetha and the crew, that was sensational 👍.

Learner · 1 yr. ago

This session was implemented exactly the way I wanted, Hind! Your explanations are reliable, and overall, I enjoyed the practice problems you’ve allowed me to attempt. You were very patient and understanding and even introduced yourself in a clear and precise manner, which I liked! Furthermore, I appreciate you asking me to introduce myself as well as it did help me get a sense of community and belonging here in Schoolhouse.world. Your efforts are, once again as always, highly appreciated! Keep it up: with this capability and passion, I know you can excel at teaching math in the future whether as a tutor, teacher, professor, etc… In fact, you even inspired me to want to tutor mathematics as well; I’ve enjoyed it extremely based on your performance. Also, based on my observations of today’s sessions, I know you have the qualifications and requirements to be one of the best tutors out there! Thank you for all you do Hind and wish you the best for your future endeavors; hope to be a part of your sessions more frequently.

Learner · 1 yr. ago

You did a great job with adjusting your tutoring based on questions from the learners, such repeating your statements on how to find the inverse of a function whenever a learner had any confusion. You also helped clarify the difference between the y's in the original vs the inverse function, thus adapting to their needs. The learners seem to be solving the problems on their own, with you just adding extra guidance into the reasoning behind moving the negative from the denominator to the numerator as that is how it is usually represented. The learners also seemed to be very involved, so you did not have to do as much work to adapt to their needs and engage them. However, in situations were leaners are more quiet or reserved, employing questions such as "Can you/someone explain the basic steps they used to solve this problem" or "What was the most difficult part of this problem" can be very beneficial as it goes beyond the basic "Do you have any questions" and allows everyone the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of the process of solving the problems. A lot of this can also come into play with checking learners' prior knowledge through having them complete practice problems or explaining what they already know about the topic. You already do this in the middle of the session, which is great! However, by going further and having them try a couple of problems on their own to their best effort, it lets them reflect on their own pre-existing knowledge on the topic. You can then use this as well to streamline the tutoring process and focus just on what they need help with. I also loved that you not only used a Quizizz game to check their progress, but also took the time to go over the reasoning behind why they got certain questions wrong. In the future, it might also be beneficial to not show the leaderboard as that can add to the pressure if anyone fears that them not doing well is going to be shown to others. I would also suggest spending more time going over the questions that people go wrong rather than what they got right, as more growth can be found by spending that extra time on those problems. I really liked your fun take on checking progress, and you might even try doing one in the middle as well for added information!

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

I really loved your use of both slides of information as well as a handout of practice problems. This use of mediums allowed you to highlight and better explain some of your points, such as composed inverse functions giving you x as a result. You also excelled with explaining not just the concept, but also the mathematical notation and logic behind it, such as y^-1 being y inverse in order to distinguish it from y in the first equation. You also go into not just the actual math, but the language used for it as well as various ways of solving the problems. Great Job! One thing you can do to improve is to clear the screen between problems, or switch to a different tab just for math work as it can get a little confusing to pick out each of the steps you did to solve to problem. I usually use google jam boards, but there are many others you can use.

Hind is one of the most hardworking and patient tutors I’ve ever met! She makes everything she teaches easy to learn and explains the concepts in a very detailed manner. I enjoy attending her sessions. She tend to incorporate fun activities and make the whole learning process not only easy but also enjoyable. I always look forward to attending every session and series she hosts! Thank you so much for all you do Hind! I appreciate it. Keep it up.

Learner · 1 yr. ago

Thank you so much for this session, Hind! It was super helpful reviewing limits and continuity. I appreciated the way you let me attempt to solve the problems on my own, assisted me when necessary. I'm looking forward to the next session!

love your sessions.

Learner · 1 yr. ago

You've done an excellent job in fostering a welcoming and conducive learning environment. Your interaction with the learners before the session, asking them how they were doing and responding to their chat messages, helped present you as someone who truly cares about them and their success. Keep up the fantastic work! Thank you for being part of this middle school pilot, Hind! Your help is greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind that this is not an objective evaluation of your tutoring ability. These are just some of my perspectives as a fellow tutor. I think that you are doing a great job already, and I hope you'll find some of my suggestions helpful. If you have any questions or need any clarifications, feel free to message me on Slack @Ayush G

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

Hind clearly had an advanced understanding of the arithmetic being covered. She incorporated a lot of visuals, ensuring that learners not only know how to solve the problem, but why the steps work. She had clear explanations that helped the learners, especially in the perfume problem. A small suggestion for next time is to only give learners access to the whiteboard when necessary because sometimes they were just doodling on parts of the problem causing a distraction and covering parts of the solution.

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

your explanation is very good.

Learner · 1 yr. ago

You did an exceptional job engaging your learner throughout the session with your explanations and the conversation-style tutoring that you employed. You adapted to the concepts that your learner wanted to go over well, and I really liked how you gave them practice problems toward the end to assess their progress.

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

You knew how to do all the problems you were going over, and your explanations were flawless. Your annotations on the board were great. I especially liked how you used the check marks and stars to congratulate your learner when they got questions correct.

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

Thank you so much, Hind. She executed my problem area with ease!!

Learner · 1 yr. ago

Thank you so much I love how you explained everything

Learner · 1 yr. ago

thank you

Learner · 1 yr. ago

One of the learners confirmed that they understood the problem they had presented to the you. And great job on double-checking that every learners' questions had been answered. This is a great way to confirm that the learners got what they wanted out of the session.

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

Despite the technical difficulties, you maintained a professional and comfortable learning environment through the chat! Thank you for ensuring that no personal information was shared after a learner asked about sharing emails -- it's important to ensure that schoolhouse stays safe and no off-platform communication happens. You did a great job calmly handling the situation, and ensured that no learner felt that they were at fault for the mistake. And great job on staying in the zoom room until after the 15 minute mark, in case any other learners joined. I'm unsure if any learners stayed in the zoom until then, but I appreciate how you communicated with the learners through chat beforehand to ensure that they knew what was happening. Although I recommend verbal communication in a session to create a stronger sense of community, but I understand if you weren't speaking for some reason or were encountering technical difficulties! Overall, you did a great job on keeping interactions safe and appropriate, and encouraging learners when needed. Keep up the great work, and thank you for tutoring on Schoolhouse!

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

Even though this was an awards ceremony, I liked how you guys kept the learners engaged beforehand by asking them questions and striking up conversations. Nice work! I marked the second section as not applicable since there was nothing for the learners to explain their thinking about.

Tutor · 8 hr. ago

The tutor/tutors were professional and prepared to run the contest. The deep understanding of material does not apply here because they are not teaching here.

Tutor · 1 day ago

Again, well done with the competition. You were able to set your boundaries in your competition rules (That you must join within the first 15 minutes was the best example) while simultaneously creating an environment for learners to go out on a limb and compete with one another as well as building on confidence to be comfortable in such a large environment. Even without as much interaction as a traditional series, it is clear that the entire competition team was working together to bring a positive competitive environment to all of the learners. Congrats to you all!

Tutor · 11 days ago

Thank you all for working with us and the technical issues! This was so fun, and I'm glad you are offering this!

Learner · 12 days ago

Thank you all so much for the session! I truly appreciate the incredible effort you each put into making it meaningful and enjoyable. Your dedication did not go unnoticed, and it made a real difference. I sincerely hope that in the future there will be another ACSIMC—it would be amazing to see this initiative continue to grow and inspire even more minds. That said, please don’t feel pressured to rush the process. Take the time you guys need to rest, reflect, and regroup.

Learner · 18 days ago

Thank you so much to the ACSIMC Committee for hosting this tournament! It was so fun and I really enjoyed it!

Learner · 18 days ago

Thank you so much! The competition was really fun and thanks for organising this so people around the world can participate :)

Learner · 18 days ago

They played jeopardy making it a fun and educational review for students. They gave learner enough time to explain their answer instead of the student just saying the answer and that's it. Since it is a review the tutor checks the explain of the students and elaborated if needed on the explanation. The tutor responded quickly to their students.

Tutor · 11 mo. ago

Thank you for greeting the early learners by name! This is a fairly large session, so it's nice to establish that sense of community. It's nice that you established the boundary about not searching up answers but kept a light attitude about the fact that some learners may search them up anyway. You also add a lot of little jokes throughout the session that lighten up any tension that may have been there, since a lot of these learners have never met one another. As for strengthening learner confidence, you're not really going through practice questions, so I've marked N/A for the category.

Tutor · 11 mo. ago

The environment that was here at this session was great. Even though this is just a jeopardy event, thanks for boosting the participants' confidence by using phrases like "I am so proud of you." at the end. It shows that you deeply care about all of them and want all of them to have an opportunity to take part in the event even if they haven't got the chance to do so.

Tutor · 11 mo. ago

The session was a blast! It was really fun and interesting, thank you so much!

Learner · 11 mo. ago

I think it would be a great idea to summarize the key improvements that the learners had at the end of the session. This action would leave the learner with a clear understanding of their progress. Overall, it seems like the learners benefitted from your sessions. One of the learners stated "Thank you so much Hind and Joe for these sessions! I respect how much effort you put into these, and your explanations are always on top! Thank you, thank you! Have a nice day 🙂" This shows that the learners appreciate your series. Also, having an assessment kind of activity allows learners to see themselves the improvement they made.

Tutor · 11 mo. ago

I really appreciate your dedication, and patience. Your contents are really helpful, and make me to study more. I am really thankful for your support. Thank you for hosting this kind of session. It really helps us.

As there was not as much time spent at the beginning of seeing where the person was at, it is somewhat difficult to say the magnitude of progress made by the learners. However, the percentage from your end of session activity gave some numerical value that you can use in future sessions in the series to see their progress over time. You also went over the problems they got wrong from that end activity, so they could have made some progress from that. Overall, I feel that focusing on this in your following sessions will make your sessions even more impactful for your learners. Great job so far with your tutoring strategies!

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

One thing that I really found exceptional was you discussing not only your day, but encouraging others to do the same. However, you still kept it professional and allowed the learners to set clear boundaries, such as when you were saying "What happened, if I may ask." This allowed the learner to make the decision if they wanted to share or not without feeling forced to. You also do a great job at guiding learners when they make mistakes, as well as highlighting the differences between mathematical mistakes and personal preferences for things like negatives in the denominator or other uses of mathematical notation.

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

Thank you so much Hind for hosting this session! Your explanations and steps are easy to follow and interpret. You allowed me time to solve and analyze the question effectively. Overall, I enjoy your ability to engage learners in meaningful conversations; highly appreciated!

Hi Hind! I'm Ayush, one of the moderators for the Jackson Public Schools subworld. Just checking your session. It's evident that you have a solid understanding of the subject matter. Your explanations during the Tutor Modeling part of the session were clear and easy to follow. The shopping analogy involving relatives buying apples, tomatoes, and bananas was particularly effective. Such analogies can make the content more relatable and comprehensible for the learners. However, the Tutor Modeling portion of your session was quite lengthy, which could make it harder to get to everything outlined in the curriculum. It's important to remember that the students are also learning this content in their classrooms, so the modeling doesn't need to be extensive. The main objective of these sessions is to reinforce the content, not to teach it from scratch. But overall, great job!

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

There is evidence the learners made progress since near the end of the session, they were able to solve problems surrounding arithmetic that they previously had a lot of trouble with. Hind did an excellent job in making sure the learners got something out of this session.

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

Hind did a great job creating a safe learning environment, especially in the first few minutes when they all shared a few laughs. Next time, when a student doesn't know how to solve a question, Hind could tell a student that mistakes are apart of the learning process and that it is fine to not understand something the first time.

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

Thank you so much I love you explained everything

you are pretty good in handling students.

Learner · 1 yr. ago

I could tell that the learners made a lot of progress throughout the session, and were able to understand the concept that was covered. The practice problems were a great way to check! :)

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

All I have to say is wow, theres so much to cover but she makes it so easy to learn. I feel like I have gotten so much better. I can testify my algerbra grade has increased a lot since joining

Learner · 1 yr. ago

you are a very sweet person.

Learner · 1 yr. ago

Yes. By the end of the session your learner was acing the practice questions that you were asking of them. I didn't see that they got even one wrong.

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

You did a great job strengthening your learner's confidence by congratulating them when they got questions correct (the checks and stars were a good strategy). You created a comfortable learning environment by engaging in conversation with your learner. Overall, outstanding job tutoring!

Tutor · 1 yr. ago

Thank you so much I love how you explain everything

Learner · 1 yr. ago

Today's session was super fun i really loved it thank you Hind.

Learner · 1 yr. ago

The session was very meaningful and comforting. Hind puts in a remarkable effort in helping learners understand the concepts she is presenting. She provides numerous practice questions and constantly checks up on other learners, ensuring that they are caught up with the material. Her uses of PowerPoints and additional study resources have really helped me learn and grow. Her efforts, interactivity, patience, and entertaining learning environment are outstanding characters she incorporates. Her sessions are one of the best I’ve joined, and she is highly appreciated by others for your capabilities.

Learner · 1 yr. ago

You did a fantastic job with your explanation of isosceles triangles. Although the learners only had one problem to present, you were able to guide the learner toward the solution without giving away the answer -- and great job on checking in with the learner afterwards to make sure they understood! If the learner is willing, you could prompt them to work their way through the problem after you explained it -- either verbally, through chat, or using the whiteboard -- to reinforce the concepts you taught. Regardless, it looks like the learner understood your explanations and seemed to know how to proceed on their own after the session. I appreciate you checking with each individual learner to ensure that you answered all the questions they had. It can be difficult to provide personalized help when multiple learners are in the session, but you handled it very well!
