About

Hi! I’m Vishvak, a sophomore from the Bay Area 🌉 who’s passionate about math and helping others enjoy it too. I’m currently certified to tutor Algebra 1 ➗ and working toward certifications in Geometry 📐 and Calculus 📈. I love exploring how math connects to real-world problems and helping students build confidence as they learn.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy coding 💻, playing the flute 🎶, and reading about business and entrepreneurship 📚. I’m always excited to learn new things and share that curiosity with others. Let’s make math something you can truly enjoy and understand! ✨

You demonstrated a strong grasp of various Algebra 1 concepts, from solving linear equations to analyzing graphs of functions and quadratics. Your explanation of the vertical line test for functions was particularly clear and effective, using both a correct graph and a non-example (the "potato" circle) to solidify the concept. You also successfully connected abstract concepts to their graphical representations.

This was a major strength of your session. You created an exceptionally positive and encouraging environment. Your excitement about the challenging problems was contagious, referring to them as "fun" and "genius." Your final feedback to the student was outstanding—telling them they are "a really good student," "engaged," and "motivated" is incredibly powerful for building their confidence and love for the subject.

You were highly attentive to signs of struggle. When Elaine found a problem confusing, you promptly offered hints or stepped in to explain. You excelled at adapting your explanations, using simpler language, drawing graphs, and providing tricks like the vertical line test. Pivoting to a tool-based strategy (Desmos) for SAT prep was a fantastic adaptation to the student's stated goal.

You did a great job of asking the student for their input and initial strategies, using questions like, "What would your first approach be?" and "Do you think you know how to proceed from here?" You created a fantastic, collaborative rapport, and the student felt comfortable enough to express amazement and engage in casual conversation about the education system. To make the engagement even more effective, especially during the tougher problems, you can ask more targeted questions to uncover specific points of confusion
