Instead, you pivoted the session to focus on the Intermediate Value Theorem, a topic he hadn't yet covered. This shows great flexibility and a genuine desire to meet the student where they are. Your later follow-up question about his understanding of continuity also shows you are trying to find the gaps in his knowledge.

When a learner solved a problem, the tutor explained in easier terms to adapt to the learner's calc level. Also, when the learner is going towards the direction of solving, she encourages the Learner to come to the answer themselves, through going back to previously learner topics.
