Great! When one of your learners was struggling with a question and making a very common mistake and she said that she didn't know how to do the question, you didn't force her to keep trying. I like how you decided to use that question to showcase a rule that learners may have not know beforehand. I like how you said that any learner should stop you and ask questions whenever they are confused. That is a good thing to say because learners might feel afraid to get the clarity they need when they are confused which can hold back their learning. Saying this makes sure that they won't feel that way and will be encouraged to get all they help they need when they need it. I really like how when learners say they don't know how to do something, you shift to not just solving the question, but to teaching them what they are missing.

Nice! You called on your learners to answer the questions while explaining the way they would do it regardless if they knew exactly how to solve it or not. When they gave their answers, you encouraged them when they were right and even when they were wrong. You were understanding of why they would think that way and didn't discourage them to keep sharing out and engaging. I like how you alternated learners every question, making sure that everyone's voice was heard and had a chance to participate. You were very encouraging by complimenting learners if they were doing the right thing and being understanding when they made a mistake.

Nice! One of the first things you made sure to do was that you had the correct pronunciation of your learners' names. That is a key step in creating a learning environment where your learners will be happy to be there and be tutored by you. Names are a form of connection and making sure you didn't get it wrong shows you are a tutor that cares about his learners' experience. I like how after your explanations of questions, you didn't just move on. You made sure to ask if everyone understood and was ready to continue. When you said you were going to call on your learners to participate, you emphasized that it is so you can fix any mistakes that they have which makes it less intimidating for them to speak up.

Great job! Right off the bat, you showed a lot of experience with differentiation. Even though the first example was relatively simple, I could tell that you have a lot of knowledge on the subject with the way you explained it very smoothly. Your learner mentioned that she was familiar with differentiation rules, but the way you explained every step and rule would help even a beginner understand. I like how you showed most if not all differentiation rules like power rule, product rule, quotient rule, trig rules, and chain rule. I realized that sometimes you had an example question where you demonstrated one of the rules by solving it yourself first and then you called one of your learners to answer the next question that required that rule. I really like this way of teaching. You are not just throwing your learners into something they've never seen before. You are giving them a quick review so that they can be able to do it themselves. Your teaching style combined with your knowledge makes your session very good.

Your confidence-building approach was consistently effective throughout the session. You proactively reassured students about the difficulty level, saying "don't feel bad, or don't feel discouraged if you get these questions wrong, because they are very hard" and reminding them multiple times that these were the hardest SAT questions. When students provided correct reasoning, you validated their thinking. You used positive reinforcement appropriately, giving thumbs up for correct answers in chat and saying "you're welcome" when students thanked you for explanations. You also normalized struggle by sharing your own SAT experience, mentioning that statistics questions were what cost you the perfect score, which helped students feel less alone in finding certain topics challenging. Your ability to create a comfortable learning environment was exceptional throughout the session. You established a relaxed, conversational tone from the start with casual greetings and maintained it throughout. You handled technical difficulties with your video connection smoothly without letting it disrupt the flow or create stress. When you made small errors during explanations, you corrected them naturally without self-criticism, modeling resilience. You encouraged questions consistently and responded to each one thoughtfully, creating a space where students felt safe to ask for clarification. Your approach of having students submit answers privately before discussing them publicly removed the pressure of being wrong in front of peers. You also showed genuine interest in student learning by asking about pacing preferences and adjusting accordingly. Your use of collaborative problem-solving, where students could build on each other's ideas, fostered a supportive learning community.

Thank you for this session. Honestly you teach better than some of my teachers but I think the way you could make this even more effective (from my perspective) is that after what you usually do, giving the problem and letting the students solve it then going over it, giving a similar but different question to the students after that could be more effective, though I know it might take up more time.
