When Wi-Fi issues disrupted things, you were patient and kept a calm, positive tone. You did adapt in the moment by repeating questions and checking for clarity. Where you can improve is in scaffolding: for example, when the student struggled with “supernova,” instead of just correcting to “death of a star,” you might guide them with clues.

You kept pulling the learner back in with questions. That’s excellent, it made the session interactive and gave the learner space to process. The Kahoot quiz was also a fun addition. One area to refine: at times, when the student gave a partial or slightly confused answer, you could have refrained from providing the answer right away.

The session was amazing! I learned a totally new concept and was able to understand it well. It was awesome to talk about the wonders of space! Thank you!

Thank you so much for the session I really enjoyed it and you explain so well

Hi Yashaswini, thanks for taking your time to share about such an interesting topic

Yashaswini created a supportive, friendly environment. Her casual tone, humor (“I’d panic about missing Indian food”), and affirmation of student answers made the learner feel heard and comfortable. She drew meaningful connections between cosmic processes and everyday elements in our lives (e.g., oxygen in our bodies, iron in blood), helping learners internalize the wonder of space science. A suggestion for future sessions could be ending with a reflection question like, “What was your favorite surprising fact today?” to deepen personal connections to the content.

Yashaswini demonstrated strong preparation and subject knowledge. She clearly structured the session around the life cycle of a star—covering stages like nebula, protostar, main sequence, red giant, and supernova—with engaging explanations. She introduced key concepts like nuclear fusion, isotopes, and element formation with care and even tied them back to relatable examples like DNA and the calcium in our bones. To improve slightly, she could tighten pacing in areas where extended tangents (e.g., food discussion) delayed the core content delivery, especially for larger audiences

Thank you for the the amazing session! Really loved the careful description of clouds

Thank you so much! It was really great - you knew a lot of facts! See you in the next session.

You were prepared to run the session smoothly with the pomodoro timer and calming music playing in the background. Great job with having the timer and the technology set up for the session!

This is where you shine most. The student felt comfortable enough to go off into tangents about stargazing and aliens, that shows you created a safe, curious environment. You validated their responses often (“Yes, you’re right,” “Good point”), which boosted confidence. Keep this up, but also balance with concise wrap-ups so that discussions don’t drift too long and eat into teaching time.

Sage, you came in with good content knowledge on gravitational lensing and space phenomena, you clearly know and enjoy the topic, which showed in your explanations and analogies. Where you could grow is in structuring the flow more tightly: the introduction stretched a little long and some instructions (mic guidance, icebreaker) could have been streamlined so more time was left for content.

The one-on-one setting allowed for strong engagement. Yashaswini asked thoughtful icebreaker and warm-up questions (“Are you an introvert/extrovert?”, “What would you panic about on Mars?”), which created a relaxed and interactive atmosphere. She frequently invited questions, checked for understanding, and adapted based on student responses. The Kahoot quiz at the end was a smart way to reinforce learning. For future sessions, she could consider incorporating more frequent interactive checks (e.g., “What do you think happens next?”) throughout the lesson—not just at the end.

Yashaswini came well-prepared with a structured plan to bust common space myths using visuals, historical context, and clear scientific explanations. She covered multiple myths such as “the moon is made of cheese,” “there’s no gravity on the moon,” and misconceptions about stars, craters, and moon phases. Her use of examples like Newtons for weight, NASA images, and real lunar footage helped ground abstract ideas in observable evidence. To improve, she could consider tightening transitions between myths or preparing smoother navigation between external links and visuals to maintain flow.
