The tutor was extremely patient with the learners when they struggled with problems, encouraging them to take their time and asked them if they needed help. In addition, when they made mistakes, he did not directly say it's wrong but rather guided them to realize where they went wrong and arrive at the correct answer. He did a great job adapting to learners' unique needs when he allowed the learner who came first to receive help with her work first and then scheduled another session with her while helping the other learner with his work.

Whenever a learner's explanation was not clear (e.g. when a learner just wrote an equation without explaining his reasoning), he asked him to explain his reasoning behind the steps. He also paused at the end of each problem to ask learners if they had any questions. He alllowed learners to annotate on the screen and share their screens to engage with the session. Also, he challenged learners to go beyond simply solving the problems to actually check their answers.

Shaurya appeared very comfortable working with you, being able to explain his approach and not worry if it was correct or not. There were some signs that this was your second session, as you indicated around 2:00, referring to the first part of the assignment. It was nice how you talked to Muntazir at the end about college in the US.

Yes, the tutor was really patient and has good explanations. His session was fun to the fact that I didn't realize how time passed too quickly. I was shy at the beginning of the session, but he's too kind and helps in engaging the learners in the discussions. I'm happy to attend with him other sessions later on!

You strengthened learners' confidence by being patient and encouraging when helping them. You also created a comfortable learning environment by being pleasant and friendly throughout the session. Additionally, by asking the learners to introduce themselves, you made it easier for them to feel safe/comfortable in the call. Finally, I really appreciated how you made a conscious effort to refer to the learners by name. This is something that most tutors don't do, so nice job. The tutor didn't directly tell students that the got a problem "incorrect"; rather, he allowed his learners to explain their thinking so that they could find out for themselves that it's incorrect and even asked them to check their answers. This is a very positive and non-judgmental approach. The tutor asked one learner how to pronounce her name, showing that he cares about respecting his learners.

This was a session for practice problems that the learners had, so "tutor is prepared to run the session smoothly" is not applicable. The tutor explained every concept in depth, including why two angles made a circle (by making a visual of a circle wrapping up both angles). He also used arithmetic as an analogy for an algebra mistake and was able to explain in depth what mistakes the learners made and why they were mistakes.

Great job working through the quadrilateral problem with Shaurya. It was good how you identified his error in how he labeled ABCD, realized that he may not have learned that concept yet, and then taught him how to properly label. Continue this approach in future sessions, as it worked very well!

This session was largely lead by Shaurya which was great! He was talking for almost the entire session with you acting more as support for when he needed it. I like how you asked questions to Shaurya on the polygon problem to have him explain his reasoning. When you asked "what does regular mean for a polygon?", it allowed for you to make sure he knew the term and was able to use it in the problem.

I marked the first section as not applicable since the learners' cameras were off, so it would have been impossible for you to detect nonverbal signs of struggle. In terms of adapting to learners' unique needs, I think you did a great job by asking them about what they wanted to focus on and then adjusting the session accordingly. I also liked how you were able to accommodate a learner who was only typing through the chat. Amazing job!

I really liked how you engaged the learners throughout the session. For example, in the beginning, you provided a short introduction about yourself and also asked learners to do the same. Then, throughout the session, you asked the learners questions relating to the practice problems you guys were solving. Great job! Encouraging learners to explain their thinking also ties into this. I also think you did well on this part. While going over the practice problems, I appreciated how you didn't just take over the problem-solving process and instead let the learners explain their thinking before providing your own explanation. Keep it up!
