-I like that you explained each answer choice when going over the pre-test! You give the situation in which each transition word would be used and prove why they would or wouldn't apply in these questions. I can tell that your explanations were aimed towards learners, beginners, and that you weren't just thinking out loud, which demonstrates how deep your understanding of the subject is. -Thank you for calling on specific learners to explain their thought process behind certain problems. This allows you to see how well they picked up on the information from the sessions you've hosted, and if necessary, what mistakes the learners may be making. You also make sure that almost all of the learners get the spotlight, which is a pretty large feat considering 15 people were present in this session. -I like that you called back some of the tips you already mentioned and showed the thought process you recommended (going through each option and identifying what it's best used for) in action. This way, the learners get to see why certain options are wrong instead of just why the correct answer is right. You also talk about how connotation changes in a passage can narrow down what the correct transition word is.

Thank you for greeting the learners at the start of the session! I'd recommend a different greeting though- one that takes into consideration different time zones (a simple "hello" works!). I like that you affirm the learners' answers with positive phrases like "great explanation!" This definitely helps build their confidence and encourages the learners to continue. I also like that you thanked the learners for joining at the end of the session. You can never have too much gratitude!

Asking about the learners' prior knowledge is crucial, and you have done it in a truly innovative manner. Checking with the learners regularly to see if they have understood the question is also really good. Amazing practice to establish a very open, question friendly environment in the start of the session, Great job!. Constantly asking the learner to answer the question first and explain their thought process is also really important and you have nailed it! Great job getting the learners to first answer the questions and then guiding them to the correct answer whenever incorrect.

I appreciate you stopping to check if there are any questions for a given problem's solution before moving forward. I also would like to mention that the overall structure of the section was nicely designed--with Engage, Participate, Learn! as well as a poll at the beginning to see how familiar the learners are with the material. This piece of information can prove super helpful when trying to assess where the learner's are in terms of knowledge. Maybe one thing you could add is a quick check for understanding at the end of the session or exit-ticket type of activity.

Owen, you did a great job going through difficult transition words in this session! I like how you annotated some of key words in each passage to demonstrate how the learners should be looking at the type of problems that you covered. You provide detailed tips about how to narrow down the answer rather than pinpoint the correct one; this is great because oftentimes, learners have to rely on the former to increase their SAT score. The way you guided the learners through the questions shows that you have a deep enough understanding of the subject as to not fully give away the answer yourself. Well done!

Owen did a good job presenting admittedly "HARD" subject matter (the session literally was focused on HARD questions only). We got stuck on one question because it was apparent a couple of folks had NO idea about the formula and method being used (completing the square). They didn't know what it was called and didn't have any clue how to use it. Owen tried to teach them and was very patient. However, it negatively impacted the entire class as we spent nearly 40% of the class time on one problem to help 2 learners. A little better balance of when to move on and circle back with folks is needed.
