About

Hi! I'm Emmanuel, a SAT Math tutor from Lagos, Nigeria, currently in my gap year. I'm passionate about helping others succeed while also focused on growing both as a learner and a tutor.

I've tutored students both on and off Schoolhouse- and while I'm proud of my progress, I’m still working hard to improve my own score too. I believe learning is a two-way street — and I'm always excited to learn just as much as I teach!

Beyond academics, I enjoy coding, cycling, making music, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Looking forward to learning with you!

You came into the session prepared with examples ready to go, especially when you walked the learner through median, mode, and mean on Desmos. You explained each step clearly and showed how each function works. I really like how you broke things down into smaller parts so the learner never felt rushed. One thing I would like to see you improve is tightening your explanations when switching between screens or features — sometimes the transitions ran a little long and the learner seemed unsure of what you were referring to. Keeping the structure a bit tighter would help the learner follow your process more easily.

You were patient when the learner struggled to hear you and you repeated yourself without frustration. I appreciate that a lot. As the session continued, there were moments where the learner showed confusion (especially when you talked about writing out lists vs using functions), and I would like to see you slow down there and give a simpler version first. You clearly know the material, but adapting the pacing more intentionally would make the session even smoother for the learner.

You checked in often and made sure the learner was following along, which helped keep them involved. You also encouraged them to confirm answers and respond to your questions, which is great. I would like to see you ask more open-ended questions to get the learner explaining their thinking, not just saying “yes.” That would help the learner stay mentally engaged rather than just agreeing with you.

You kept the tone friendly, calm, and supportive the entire session. You encouraged the learner and celebrated their correct answers, which helps build confidence. I would like to see you create a little more space for the learner to speak so they feel even more comfortable taking the lead. You already maintain a positive vibe — leaning into that even more by giving them extra room to talk could make a big difference.
