The tutor continuously engaged the student by checking in frequently, asking directly, "What would you like to get started with?" and "Do you know...?" He consistently encouraged the student to explain their thinking, specifically by saying, "how about you walk me through where you are currently?" when starting the first problem, and later, "how about you walk me through how you did the A part?" for the second question. This approach allowed the student to drive the pace and demonstrate their existing knowledge. What worked well was using open-ended questions like, "Would you like to solve to see what the angle there would be?" to prompt the student toward the next step. To improve, the tutor could try to weave in more frequent, small prompts to explain thinking during the diagram drawing phase, rather than just at the beginning of the problem. Other than that, the tutor did really well. There was no other noticeable or major issues.

I loved the fast paced work and even though i slipped up sometimes I was always corrected, and allowed to explain my thoughts

Your explanations were very thorough. You explained why certain steps have to be taken when solving systems of equations, not just what the steps are. Explaining why something works is important because it helps learners solve problems on their own in the future. You also showed the learners how to check their work after finding the solution.

It was great how at the beginning you asked the learners how much they think the understand the topic. I also liked how you asked the learners how they would start the first question. This is a good way to check prior knowledge. I liked how you tried to get the learners to try practice problems on their own to see if they were making progress. I would recommend when going through practice problems with the learner try to engage the learners more maybe by asking what step they would do next.

The tutor effectively used the whiteboard visuals to help the student set up the diagrams, which was the main confusion point. He provided clear, content-specific guidance by illustrating that the segment length conditions (AP=CP, BP=DP) could be met by different intersecting shapes in the first problem. For the second problem, his explicit suggestion to use Side-Angle-Side (SAS) congruence and look for vertical angles was exactly what the student needed to move forward with the proof. The breakdown for the angle problem was clear and logical. To improve, a quick, simple sketch of the second angle problem's triangles on the whiteboard would have been beneficial to visually track which angles corresponded to 90. Other than that minor improvement, the tutor taught very well and had no other noticeable issues.

Great session, Avinash! Great job on showing a number line to help explain adding a positive or negative number when Ryleigh was confused. It was awesome how you wrote out each step to the problems you were solving. This made it easy for the learners to follow what you were doing. Nice job on mentioning the difference between substitution and elimination methods.
