A‑Level P3 Trigonometry – Graphs, Identities & Equation‑Solving

Starts

In this intensive workshop, we will cover the entire CAIE Pure 3 § 3.3 syllabus in one go:

1. Six trig graphs for all angles – sine, cosine, tangent and their reciprocals sec, cosec, cot; amplitude, period & asymptotes
2. Core Pythagorean & reciprocal identities – sec²θ ≡ 1+tan²θ, cosec²θ ≡ 1+cot²θ
3. Angle‑addition & double‑angle formulas – sin(A±B), cos(A±B), tan(A±B); sin 2A, cos 2A, tan 2A
4. Express a sin θ + b cos θ as R sin(θ ± α) / R cos(θ ± α) – maximum/minimum applications
5. Equation solving – e.g. 2 sec²θ – tan θ = 5, 3 cos θ + 2 sin θ = 1 within a specified interval
6. CAIE past‑paper problems – guided solutions & timed learner practice

Pace: concept lightning tour → live worked examples → learner practice & discussion → Q&A.

Bring a pen, a calculator / Desmos, and be ready to participate. Prior comfort with basic SOH‑CAH‑TOA is assumed.

Become THAT kid: 📚📐 All of AP Pre-Calc! 📝🔢

Starts

Why attend my class?
I'm an experienced tutor who's taken several tutor certification courses both on schoolhouse and Coursera. For example, I've taken "Making Math Click" by Dr. Barbara Oakley and Dr. John Mighton, both celebrated globally for their work in education sciences and volunteer work which advises using neuroscience and artificial intelligence to enhance your learning experience

Safety Measures
Since students from anywhere can attend, there’s a small risk of inappropriate behaviour. If this occurs, I will immediately report it to Schoolhouse’s safety team.

Before you join:
I’m a volunteer and new to tutoring—not a 'that kid' myself, just someone who’s worked hard to learn this material. I’ll probably make mistakes sometimes, but that just means we’ll learn together. My goal is to help you understand concepts more clearly, build confidence, and feel supported as we go through AP Pre-Calc step by step.

Here's what we'll be covering:

UNIT 0
Get Ready for Precalc
UNIT 1
Composite and inverse functions
UNIT 2
Trigonometry
UNIT 3
Complex numbers
UNIT 4
Rational functions
UNIT 5
Conic sections
UNIT 6

After School: 217 Days of Learning the AP Precalculus Exam

Starts

We will cover the entirety of the AP Precalculus Exam material in 217 days.

Prepare to watch a lot of videos from the Algebros at flippedmath.com. We will be using a lot of their material (practice problems and videos). Their material is online completely free and helped me earn a 5 on the AP exam and an A in the class. Between every session you will watch one video related to what we will be covering next session.

Our sessions will follow this formula:
Part 1 - 10 minutes - We will review the video watched outside of the session.
Part 2 - 40 minutes - You will work together with your classmates to solve practice problems. Faster learners should help their fellow slower learners. The goal is to have everyone progress at a sufficient rate.
Part 3 - 10 minutes - You will complete a short quiz on your own.
Part 4 - 10 minutes - We will review the answers to the quiz together.
Part 5 - 5 minutes - You will summarize what you learned during the session. I will then tell you which video you should watch before the next session.

Here are the materials that you should bring:
1. Scratch paper
2. A writing utensil
3. A graphing calculator

All sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 AM to 7:15 AM.

More sessions and session descriptions will be added as time goes on.

Exploring Conics

Starts

Conics, or Conic Sections, can be found everywhere in life. The orbits of planets, the shape of satellite dishes, and even the motion of cars rely on conic sections to work properly. You could say conics make up an essential part of our modern world!

In this series, we will learn how to graph conics (including circles, ellipses, parabolas, and hyperbolas), interpret their graphs, and understand their applications. We will also go over important Algebra concepts such as completing the square and graphing equations.

For a better learning experience, I would recommend being familiar with completing the square (we will go over this in the first session), since we will be doing much of this throughout the series.
