About

We will cover the entirety of the AP Precalculus Exam material in 217 days.

Prepare to watch a lot of videos from the Algebros at flippedmath.com. We will be using a lot of their material (practice problems and videos). Their material is online completely free and helped me earn a 5 on the AP exam and an A in the class. Between every session you will watch one video related to what we will be covering next session.

Our sessions will follow this formula:
Part 1 - 10 minutes - We will review the video watched outside of the session.
Part 2 - 40 minutes - You will work together with your classmates to solve practice problems. Faster learners should help their fellow slower learners. The goal is to have everyone progress at a sufficient rate.
Part 3 - 10 minutes - You will complete a short quiz on your own.
Part 4 - 10 minutes - We will review the answers to the quiz together.
Part 5 - 5 minutes - You will summarize what you learned during the session. I will then tell you which video you should watch before the next session.

Here are the materials that you should bring:
1. Scratch paper
2. A writing utensil
3. A graphing calculator

All sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 AM to 7:15 AM.

More sessions and session descriptions will be added as time goes on.

I received an invitation from College Board through my email to become an SAT tutor because I scored above the 90th percentile in "the math and/or reading and writing sections" of the SAT in spring 2025. My total SAT score was 1400 with a 720 in the reading and writing section and a 680 on the math section. I achieved the 93rd percentile out of all test takers. I also took advanced math courses. I like making computer music in my free time.

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

I will be pretty lenient with the attendance policy for now. However, if the series starts filling up with members, then I will be more strict.

If that should be the case, then you will be withdrawn from the series if you have more than 2 unexcused absences in a row. Please message the tutor in advance for any absences!

SESSION 1

AP Precalculus

AP Precalculus

Tue 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM UTCSep 9, 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM UTC

We will be covering Lesson 1.1: Change in Tandem. You will learn about basic properties of functions (such as concavity) and function notation. I would highly recommend that you watch the Algebros' video on Lesson 1.1 before this session and take notes on the packet provided. (You can alternatively use your own paper to take notes). You are free to start on the practice problems before the session, but it is not required. You will work on the practice problems in the session with your fellow learners, anyways. A graphing calculator will not be required here, but it will be in later sessions.

Thu 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM UTCSep 11, 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM UTC

We will be covering Lesson 1.2: Rates of Change. You will learn how to calculate the average rate of change in a function, how to make your average rate of change results more specific, and the difference between positive and negative rates of change. Watch the Algebros' video on Lesson 1.2 before this session and take notes on the packet provided. (You can alternatively use your own paper to take notes). You are free to start on the practice problems before the session, but it is not required. You will work on the practice problems in the session with your fellow learners, anyways. A graphing calculator will be required here. (You should keep a graphing calculator with you from now on.)

We will be covering Lesson 1.3: Rates of Change Linear and Quadratic Functions. You will learn the difference between linear and quadratic rates of change, how to calculate the second difference (also known as the rate of change of the average rate of change) in a quadratic function, and how to determine the concavity of a quadratic function based on its second difference. Watch the Algebros' video on Lesson 1.3 before this session and take notes on the packet provided. (You can alternatively use your own paper to take notes). You are free to start on the practice problems before the session, but it is not required. You will work on the practice problems in the session with your fellow learners, anyways.

We will be covering Lesson 1.4: Polynomial Functions and Rates of Change. You will learn the parts of a polynomial function and how to identify local and global extrema. You will also revisit the topic of inflection points from Lesson 1.1. Watch the Algebros' video on Lesson 1.4 before this session and take notes on the packet provided. (You can alternatively use your own paper to take notes). You are free to start on the practice problems before the session, but it is not required. You will learn how to determine the sign of each x-interval in a polynomial, how to account for multiplicities in polynomial functions, how to determine the number of real and non-real zeros in a polynomial, and how to use successive differences to find the degree of a polynomial. Watch the Algebros' video on Lesson 1.5A before this session and take notes on the packet provided. (You can alternatively use your own paper to take notes).
