You did a nice job checking in and asking the learner questions such as “What do you think we could do with these two equations?” Moments like that encouraged the learner to think out loud. I’d love to see you lean even more into this by asking the learner to walk through their full reasoning before you jump in. It gives them more ownership over the problem and shows you exactly where they’re getting stuck.
