-During the "I do" strategy, your explanation of your process is really thorough and helps the learners see exactly what you're doing and why you're doing it. You apply the strategies that you just taught to them in action, providing a precedent that the learners can refer to. You consistently use language that checks in with the learner; you end each major thought off with "right?", but try to pause a bit and give leeway for the learners to interject in case they have a question. This is quite a small criticism, so I have not taken off any points for this. -You give the learners time to solve a practice problem and call on one to explain their thought process. By doing this, you can see how well the learner actually understands the type of problem. If they are correct, you see what details they look for to find the answer; if they're making errors, you can see if they made a conceptual or procedural error. Alternatively, you can skip the minute that you give the learners and have one reason out loud in real time. -Learners typically skip some details when they recap their process out loud. I am glad that you took up the opportunity to provide further reasoning as to why a certain answer is correct. For example, you talk about how some of the key words in the first "we do" problem correlate with delight, so you could automatically figure that question out. You also call upon some past ideas (e.g., eliminating answers that are extreme) to remind learners that they have that option as well.

Ken, I can tell that you were really well-prepared for this session! I appreciate that you annotated the slideshow as you proceeded with the session; I find that annotations are really helpful to see key ideas in reading- or writing-based subjects, so I'm sure the learners felt the same. Here, in particular, annotating helped you dissect the question types that the learner should look for when applying the skills you taught in this session. You made sure that some important ideas didn't get lost on the learners; for example, you brought up eliminating extreme answers as a way to find the correct answer to some of the practice problems, even when the learners didn't consider it themselves. By doing this, you reinforce that this method is valid and can save them for the SAT. Great job overall!

thanks for the session, was helpful !

The host had a solid understanding of the concepts as seen through their accurate math vocabulary and workthroughs of various methods. Showing multiple ways to solve each problem is something I thought was elegant since it allows learners to choose the way they understand best. The only improvement I would recommend is to slow down just a bit perhaps so everyone can follow along without feeling lost, as some parts did seem a little bit rushed. However, that did not correlate with a lack of information as the tutor did relay all the information related to each question- so maybe just a bit slower next time :)

I liked that he was able to go over every question thoroughly. Even giving us different ways to go about answering the questions.

thank you for the sessions

Yes, the learners have the opportunity to both reason out loud themselves and hear others talk about their thought processes to solving a certain question, so they understand multiple ways that they can solve the type of problem you covered today.

Thank you for welcoming the learners at the beginning of the session. I like that when you asked them how they're feeling (both related to and unrelated to the SAT), you talked about how you're actually excited today and have a lot of energy. There's nothing like starting the session off with positivity, so nice job! I also appreciate that after the learners talk about how they approached the correct answer, you say something like "thank you so much for that explanation! That's right because..." Showing gratitude here encourages the learners to participate again in the future and feel more confident in their answers.
