Thank you a lot for teaching me the content that is not accessible for high schoolers. It helps me with USABO a lot!

John was such a phenomenal tutor! Off the bat, he was very humorous, and I knew it would be a good session. He asked me if I had any specific questions before diving right into my notes. He broke down everything extremely well and made sure to clarify any confusion I had. If he didn't know something, he was up-front about it, which I really appreciated. I'd rather have someone be honest than guess. There was a specific topic on my notes he didn't know of, but I did, and he had me explain it to him, which I liked (it had me practice too, which I needed). It shows that he's open to learning new things and is EXTREMELY passionate about biology. Even though his laptop died, he made sure to wrap up the question we were working on through the chat, which I really appreciated. Thank you so much! Today was awesome, and I feel much more confident in phylogenetics! :D

I thoroughly enjoyed learning about PCR and the different types.

Thank you so much, it's very cool stuff and the visuals help a ton!

Thank you for turning a difficult topic into a comprehensive one by using fun analogies like the "DNA soup" and the "mom's favorite vase". I appreciated your fun, patient manner!

The session was very interactive. I got chance to ask my question even I have to mute my speaker due to the noise here. The tutor was very thoughtful.

You were well-prepared to guide the office hours smoothly and showed a strong grasp of the biology concepts by using clear diagrams to explain processes like DNA replication and mitosis. This made it easy for learners to visualize the steps and understand how cell division works. To get even better, you could organize the flow of your diagrams with labels or color coding so learners can follow the sequence more clearly.

Thanks for the session! It was a lot of content to grasp, but I love how you connected it to more basic biology to help us understand it, it was great!

John, your ability to adapt was a major strength in the session as you used the plasmid map software on the fly to clarify the Tm calculation, which was perfectly responsive and very illustrative of the material. However, you should also adjust based on non-verbal cues or general reluctance from your students. To improve, after a complex explanation (like the dPCR process), you could try confirming their understanding with follow-up statements like: "Let's make sure that sinks in. Can you summarize for me how dPCR is different from qPCR?" This better allows him to use a non-technical explanations that can reveal where his understanding is still fuzzy without pressuring him for a formal answer.

Thank you for going back as some students missed last week's lesson.

He's super cool! Great with examples !

He was really helpful and drew diagrams to help me understand. He also didn’t mind me not having a mic and ensured that I understood the explanations thoroughly,
