Isaac was really nice and supportive. He kept saying “good job” and “excellent” and that helped Olive feel more confident. He also made it comfortable when she was stuck and didn’t make her feel bad. To improve, he could end with a quick recap like “these are the main steps to remember” so Olive leaves feeling extra sure.

You gave the student a lot of sincere praise for their speed and hard work, which is excellent for building their self-esteem. This helps them feel good about math, especially when the topics get difficult. Talking about your background also made the session feel very calm and personal rather than stressful. Keep using this warm and supportive style because it makes students feel safe to ask questions and take risks when they are not sure of the right answer.

You do a great job in checking the learner's prior knowledge, while u are going through the session. You constantly ask the learner if they are following along to make sure they are engaged and understanding. Great job with this, keep up the great work !

I liked how, even before you started helping your learner, you said, "I believe you got this". This already gave your learner a confidence boost! After a couple of minutes, you said, "You're doing pretty good," which further strengthens your learner's confidence! Great work with that! I also like how you make small comments which made the learning environment so much more comfortable! :) (ex: "My back just got destroyed. It hurts." and "But, you don't have to make me feel better, I know it's not the greatest of these drawings")!
