I loved this series!

The tutor had well-organized slides prepared with the content knowledge along with practice problems after teaching each concept. There was even a thank you slide in the end, and the slides were very visually appealing. The tutor gave a list of steps for each method of performing polynomial division and included a brief example to outline the steps in action (so that she showed them rather than simply listing out the steps). Then she gave a couple of practice problems of different types (each with different exponents) so that students could get not just a lot of work to do during the session but exposure to a variety of types of problems.

This session was incredibly helpful! Having a look at how you approach questions helps me figure out how to do it myself, especially when I’m stuck on a specific problem.

Due to the high number of practice questions that you introduced to the students, you were able to allow students to better understand the content from your selected topic (which increased the students' level of confidence). Furthermore, you always made an attempt to ask smaller questions to the students to make sure that they are understanding every small detail that you discussed about. In the perspective of developing a comfortable learning environment, you were able to be really kind, especially with your actions at the beginning of your session, during your explanations for the practice problems, and at the end of your session.

Great with explanations and not making me feel better for messing up the math 😅

I think you did an excellent job when it came to developing connections with your learners. This is because they were able to solve the problems on their own, indicating they understand how to solve them using each technique and observing their personal errors. Additionally, you allowed them to freely express their thoughts to you, to which you responded reflectively, understanding them. Combined with the introductions and the right tone and attitude, you created a comfortable learning environment.

I think you did an excellent job when it came to the foundations of this session. This is because you prepared a slideshow, problems, and prepared useful resources, ensuring a smooth and organized session, showing your attention to quality as a tutor. Additionally, I think you have a fantastic understanding of systems of equations. Mainly this is because you emphasize technique, which is the critical part in solving them in multiple ways, showing your learners how they can get the same answer in multiple ways. Additionally, you showed how the calculator can also be very useful (Ex. Desmos) when solving systems of equations, showing an easier method along with hand solving them before tying them all together at the end with the review. Great job here!

Loved how you could interact with the screen, helped me explain much better. Also for the SAT problem, the help was very useful. Definitely going to use the trick that you taught me.

The tutor talks with a positive tone of voice and makes positive facial expressions. She compliments learners when they get an answer correct (e.g. "perfect"), and when learners get something incorrect, she would not directly say no or "that's incorrect" but rather guide them to understanding why they're incorrect ("If it were a=2, then..."). Also, in the beginning of the session, she greets her learners and asks how they are doing.

Tutor · 4 days ago

Talks in a calm voice, answering questions and doubts when needed. Very welcoming. Helping answer questions in the chat while constantly engaging learners.

I think you did an excellent job when it came to adapting to your learners. This is because when your learners got an incorrect answer, you made sure to help them, even if it was indirect, understanding their thinking process before uncovering their unconscious thoughts (Eg. Messing us positive and negative signs). As a result, they were able to find their errors and be able to fully master the material. (As a side note, you use a technique called motivational interviewing, which I think you should continue to do, where you humanistically assist your learners by understanding their thoughts. You can search it up to understand more about it).

I think you did an excellent job when it came to engaging with your learners. This is because you made sure they were involved with all the problems, whether it was for practice or when you taught them using each technique. That's important as you can better understand their thinking process and the steps they take to solve for x and y. Additionally, you also made sure to use their thinking process as a way to pivot the session, using it as an example to solve problems, even if it wasn't the way you intended it to be. This shows your affirmations and openness as a tutor. Great job here!

Great job with checking in with your learners prior to starting content to see if they were familiar with the diagram. In addition excellent work with adapting when your learners needed extra explanation and answering questions.
