Welcome to the Topicly Winter 2025-2026 Research Program! Topicly is a research organization that helps students publish their own research. This is our first 100% Schoolhouse-based research program. Anyone is welcome to join. If you fulfill all your expected responsibilities, you will also earn a certificate of completion from Topicly. In this series, we will have research lessons hosted by Claire A, which are mostly lecture-based with some discussion. We will also have workshops. These are more hands-on opportunities to build your research. We will also have office hours for you to receive tailored help with your research. And you will have structured homework to help you complete your own research. As long as your topic is Schoolhouse-safe, you can research whatever you’d like! We’ll help you perform original research or complete a literature review or meta-analysis! If you complete your paper and follow the attendance policy, you will be eligible for a certificate of completion. We will finish our series with a symposium presentation and informal peer review, and we hope to publish your writing on the Topicly blog (under the same name you use on Schoolhouse). Our tutors have experience! From a PhD student to participants in our previous research programs, everyone has a unique perspective and a love of research! TL;DR Version: This series helps you do your own research. You will present at a symposium and do informal peer review. You can turn your publication in to Topicly to be put on the internet. You will have homework (about 3 hours a week). Pay careful attention to your attendance. Not all sessions are the same!

Each week, we'll do Khan Academy competitions that culminate in one Kahoot at the end! Winners get a certificate and tons of bragging rights! Note: if this series doesn't reach 30 registered learners by one day before its first session, I'll unfortunately be moving it. Please encourage your friends and connections to join!

Each session, we will cover various techniques and methods of creating interesting and multidimensional characters for creative writing! You can use them for your own books, or you I can help you write a (not very hard) short story or even a page showing your character in action. We will also learn how to create engaging characters that will deepen emotional engagement. Please register if you’re interested! New Notes: Please, everybody who joins this session: 1. We'll alternate between three types of sessions: Theory, Practical Musicianship and learning songs! Note: you should have a piano for this session, but it will still be engaging without one!
