Using material from Khan Academy was a good choice, as it helped you find sample problems for your learner relatively quickly. There were also no hiccups during the session, with you and the learner being very focused on the topic and material at hand. Meanwhile, you conveyed a deep understanding of material, especially when initially explaining the concept of the average rate of change you your learner. Drawing a graph and gradually introducing the concept was a great way to help your learner understand a relatively new concept!

As a tutor, you did well in being transparent in the session details and how you wanted to approach the practice problems. You had no setup problems, smoothly facilitated the session, and clearly explained concepts like relative extrema using graphs. You also addressed nuances, like whether there is extrema if the graph extends, which conveyed your depth of knowledge in the material. Your explanations were easy to understand.

The best thing this session offered was the interaction between you and the learner. The learner is clearly great at arithmetic and doing it in his head, so the fact that you let him do a large chunk of the calculations is effective in engaging him in the session. This is especially evident when the work only consists of one-variable equations, so its great that you let your learner take initiative. Moreover, you regularly check your learner's understanding by saying "right?" and "so how do/should we" from time to time. This is is a great method to see whether your learner has absorbed all of the relevant information.

The tutor was prepared with khan academy open on the side and transitioned to working through the problems on the website when the learner asked him. He knew what the topics hew as explaining as the tutor talked for a very long time and gave in depth explanations of how to solve the problems when learner was confused.
