Having trouble getting started on your college essay? Not sure how to choose the right topic to write about? Check out our new "Getting Unstuck on Your College Essay" workshop! This workshop is a new spin-off of our original four-week "The Essay" workshop. There will be one 75-minute session that includes three interactive in-class exercises. In this workshop, you will: - Brainstorm a list of potential topics to write about for your college essay - Learn strategies for how to build in reflection for your essay and choose a good topic - Have a list of next steps that you can use to continue writing your essay

On Sunday, three students will have their college essays put under the microscope in a live teardown session. We'll read parts of the essay together. Then you’ll get ten minutes of direct, honest feedback focused on message, authenticity, and writing quality. Essays must be submitted in advance with your background details and target schools as context. Everyone else is welcome to observe, learn, and apply the lessons to their own work.

This College Admissions Workshop is a virtual 4-week workshop designed to provide you with structure and support to build your college list. In this workshop, you will: - Learn how to evaluate colleges across key factors like academics, campus life, location, and cost to find your best matches - Use online tools and resources to research schools thoroughly, looking beyond rankings to discover what makes each unique - Create a balanced list of reach, target, and safety schools that align with your academic profile and preferences - Develop strategies for exploring colleges through virtual tours, campus visits, and conversations with students and staff

In just 60 minutes, you’ll generate more personal statement ideas than you thought possible. Together with other seniors, you’ll discover new angles on your own experiences and you’ll be guided through interactive activities that spark reflection and creativity. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with at least three essay concepts ready to build on. You’ll feel more confident, more prepared, and ready to write the essay that gets you noticed.

A 1:1 series between Andrew and Joshua E. We’ll be focusing on college application essays. Joshua is a high school senior seeking feedback on his personal statement. He would like guidance on how to make the essay clear, memorable, and authentic, as well as feedback on the overall quality of the draft and the impression it leaves on the reader.

In this workshop, you will: - Learn the purpose of each part of the application - Understand how and when to apply and strategies to consider when making your plan - Complete drafts of frequently required parts of the application, such as lists of activities & experiences, and honors & awards - Work alongside other students who are also preparing to apply to college.
