I like that you kept it casual and laughed a bit in the conversation. You didn't talk too seriously and stayed chill. All in all, I think you created a safe and comfortable space for your learner to speak freely about his issues and gave honest advice from your heart and your own experience. You recommended him many valuable resources, like Khan Academy and extra reading, which I think was great advice.
