Contextual applications of differentiation

PREREQUISITES: Chain Rule and Implicit Differentiation Hello there! In this session, we will look at the relationship between derivatives and rates of change and see how we can apply them to solve real-life problems. There will also be an introduction to linear approximation, a way to estimate function values using derivatives. If there is anything specific that you'd want to go through (including those that are about the topic but not mentioned above) or if you have any questions, don't hesitate to tell me! Hope to see you there! *Please prepare a pencil and paper for the session, as we will go through practice problems.

Limits and continuity

In this session, we'll review Limits of Continuity, a foundational topic that is used to build up basically everything about Calculus. We would go through practice problems, so please prepare a pencil and paper. Please bring in questions you have. Hope to see you there!

Differentiation: composite, implicit, and inverse functions

PREREQUISITES: A solid understanding of the topic 'Differentiation: definition and basic derivative rules' In this session, we will review the Chain Rule (used to differentiate composite functions), implicit differentiation, and derivatives of inverse functions. By the end of the session, we will try to differentiate the function e^(arctan(x^2)). Please prepare a pencil and paper for practice problems. Feel free to bring in any questions you have about the topic! Hope to see you there!

Differentiation: definition and basic derivative rules

In this session, we will mainly focus on derivatives rules and overall the evaluation of derivatives. The aim for us is to be able to do simple differentiation by the end of the session. To achieve that, we'll not dive deeply into the proofs, but we'll do more practice problems instead to solidify our knowledge. Basic knowledge of Limits and Continuity is preferred as we will go through the definition of derivatives. Please prepare a pencil and paper. Hope to see you there!

Differentiation: definition and basic derivative rules

In this session, we will go through the basics of differentiation, which is EXTREMELY important due to its unique approach towards infinitesimal change and having lots of surprising applications in real life (I'll talk about some of them). The main goal of this session is to get you to understand the concept and get used to the notations (they can be confusing). Prior knowledge of Limits and Continuity is preferred. Hope to see you there!

Limits and continuity

In this session, we will go through the topic of Limits and Continuity, which is essential to Calculus as it builds up the foundation of what Calculus is. We would look at some examples do some practice problems on Khan Academy. Hope to see you there!
