What worked well: You created an exceptionally supportive and comfortable environment! Your tone was always patient and encouraging. You normalized struggle by saying things like "That's okay" and "I understand," which makes it safe for a student to be wrong. The friendly, collaborative banter about "the tail" on the root symbol and calling math a "word thingy" was fantastic—it made the session feel much more relaxed and personable! What could be improved: You're doing a wonderful job building a positive rapport. To build on this, you could sprinkle in a bit more specific praise when she works through a tough step, like, "Great job simplifying that fraction!" This reinforces exactly what she did well and makes her feel even more capable.
