This is because you introduced yourselves in the beginning of class and emphasized struggles, which forms a sense of community and belonging. You allowed them to have conflicting answers before sharing them out and pivoting the session with it. Additionally, you maintained the right tone and attitude, which is very important to maintain a smooth session. You should continue to do this.
