I want to point out that you remembered the day your student is taking their SAT, which is not only helpful to adjusting to their needs, but also shows that you care about them. Great work!

You come prepared with all your tech situated and ready to run your session smoothly. It is evident you understand the concepts covered in the Practice Test and are able to walk through each question in an organized, prepared manner.

You showed patience and flexibility throughout, especially when Derrick encountered confusion. For example, during a graphing question, he asked why subtraction was needed. You built a step-by-step chart: “Let’s say my number of days is 3… only on 2 days out of 3 we are paying 135.” This visual and verbal breakdown addressed his confusion thoroughly. You also adapted when Desmos caused issues: “Desmos gets very confused if you have a constant… try plotting this as a line instead.” Your technical and pedagogical adaptability helped Derrick work through challenges without frustration.

You displayed strong mastery of both algebra and SAT-specific strategies throughout the session. Early on, you assessed Derrick’s needs clearly: “So I saw that you have a few questions in algebra and advanced math. Do you want to share your questions?” You also provided clear, concise instruction on complex formulas, like when you introduced factoring using identities: “So this is basically x plus y whole square, which expands to x squared plus 2xy plus y squared.” You guided the learner through deeper analysis of problems, such as identifying that the quadratic-plus-linear system would have two solutions based on graph intersections. Your explanation helped Derrick understand not just the answer but the reasoning behind it: “So our solution is just the intersection point of the two lines… here you can see that there are two intersecting points.”

She was very kind to Derick, and she always greeted him by his name, and offered him to share questions before she showed her questions, and always asked Derick if he could see her screen and hear her audio well. She also kept saying good job and that he is on the right track

Thank you!!!!!! I truly did enjoy this series! I learned a lot from it, and I am so happy I found this series. I hope others found this series as helpful as I did! Sincerely, thank you for everything you taught us. I don't think I could have found a better introduction to Python course anywhere. Thank you!!!!

You do a good job of allowing your student to share their insights and thought processes. I like the use of "how so" after they give their answer. This ensures they give the why and not the fact.

Tutor · 2 mo. ago

Amazing session like always! Thank you, I loved it!

Learner · 2 mo. ago

You effectively engage your learners through cold-calling and encouraging them to explain their thinking. For example, you could call Sameer and ask him to walk you through Q 13, helping you understand how he thinks and his method for tackling the issue. You also ask follow-up questions to ensure your learners are on the right track, such as asking Vaidik what the x and y represented in Q 14.

Thank you for the session! It was very informative :)

You created a friendly and supportive environment. You offered regular affirmations like “Perfect,” “Great job,” and “You’re on the right track.” Your tone was encouraging, and you often normalized complexity: “This is a bit confusing… but this is basically it.” At the end of the session, you made it clear that support would continue: “If you have any questions, you can just message me on Schoolhouse.” Your encouragement helped Derrick feel safe making mistakes, asking questions, and trying again.

She tried to help Derick remember formulas that he has used before like the quadratic and factoring formulas, and she explained each of these formulas in context of the problem to help Derick and understand how these formulas are implemented in the overall sense of the question.

Tutor · 3 mo. ago

She always asked Derick what his thoughts were on the problem, and started with lead ons such as how do you think we can start this question, or how so, or how do you think we can approach this question. She encouraged him to pursue his thinking, and to keep on flowing his own ideas in pursuit of solving the question

Dhanvi came into the session with a clear goal and followed through on it. She started by introducing herself and clearly stating that this session would be an "introduction and basics class" designed for people completely new to programming. She shared her screen right away and explained each slide slowly, making sure students could follow. Her analogy about writing a recipe for baking a cake helped make the concept of programming more relatable. She defined things like the IPO cycle, open-source software, and IDEs using visuals and basic code snippets. When Rigved asked about the power operator, she confidently explained the syntax with real examples and confirmed the correct answer (“2 stars mean exponentiation like 2 to the power of 4”).
