You repeatedly and patiently encouraged the student to solve problems or explain their thinking using the chat feature, such as when asking, Can you type in the chat what you think that blank would be? and providing positive reinforcement for every correct answer ("That's actually correct" I'm really proud of you"). The discussion with Basra, regarding complex systems of equations and graphing, demonstrated both of your strong conversational engagement and both of your willingness to explore related topics outside the main lesson plan. The use of an image-based icebreaker and a quick word problem structure was a good way to ensure the student remained continually involved in explaining the pattern or solving for the missing variable/output.
