Tutor realizes when learner is confused and continuously checks up on learner by allowing learner time to ask questions about the steps/theorems. Tutor aptly does not judge learner when expresssing any sense of confusion as well. Tutor also asks about previous knowledge on subject and makes sure learner is following along in process. In the future, the tutor may also make connections between new concepts and what the learner already understands, such as revisiting previous lessons or using familiar examples to explain new materials.

Tutor strengthens learner's confidence and creates a comfortable, welcoming learning environment by offering consistent encouragement, and maintaining a patient, non-judgmental attitude. By creating a safe space where mistakes are seen as part of the learning process helps create a sense of community. Using positive reinforcement, asking open-ended questions, and engaging the learner by name also leads to better connections and interactions in session!
