Hey Bryan, you were really well-prepared and ran the session smoothly from start to finish. It was clear you have a deep understanding of the material — your explanations on complex topics like the divine right of kings and the balance of power were spot on and easy to follow. What worked especially well were the examples and analogies you used, like connecting the balance of power to the idea of peace between countries, which helped make abstract ideas more concrete.

This tutor stood out for the level of interaction they encouraged. Throughout the session, they consistently paused to ask open-ended questions, prompted learners to share their reasoning (not just answers), and followed up with praise and elaboration. For example, after each MCQ or thesis activity, the tutor asked students to explain their thinking and built on their points with helpful reinforcement. The balance between instruction and interaction was very well executed. It’s also worth mentioning that both students actively participated, which reflects the welcoming tone and strong engagement methods used.

The tutor checked in multiple times to confirm student understanding and adjusted their pace accordingly. They responded to confused or partial answers without making anyone feel uncomfortable and used student responses to build the discussion further. For example, when students gave incomplete or slightly off answers, the tutor gently clarified and expanded without shutting them down. They also shifted between content and writing, showing flexibility in supporting different skill sets (reading, writing, historical thinking).

The tutor did an excellent job setting the tone from the very beginning. Starting with an icebreaker was a great way to warm up the group and create a friendly environment. They transitioned smoothly from engagement into content, showing they were clearly prepared with slides, examples, and structured segments. The material was presented with clarity and confidence, and the tutor clearly had a deep understanding of absolutism, constitutionalism, and related European political developments. They used accurate historical terms, layered causes and effects, and responded to student answers with thoughtful validation and elaboration. This showed not only knowledge but strong communication skills.

I thought that the explanations were extremely helpful and doing the practice problems was good as well.
