I think you did an excellent job when it came to developing connections with your learner. This is because they were able to express their ideas to you before you affirmed it (a key skill of Motivational Interviewing), showing that they are confident in preparing to write a crucial part of their college apps. Additionally, combined with the right tone and attitude, you made sure to do introductions and learned more about your learners, forming a sense of community. Great job!
