The session overall ran smoothly, and I did not notice any major technical issues. It was also clear that you had a good understanding of the material. However, there was limited explanation throughout the session. While I understand that the session was only 30 minutes long, the pacing and scope could have been adjusted more effectively. Instead of trying to cover many questions or question types within a short time, it may have been better to reduce the amount of content or focus on fewer topics in greater depth. Because of the limited time you set for the session, much of the responsibility was placed on the learners to figure things out on their own, which may not have been ideal, especially for learners who need more guidance and explanation.

I understand that there was a significant time limitation, but it is still important to pause and check whether learners are struggling. If 30 minutes is not enough, increasing the session length or, as mentioned earlier, reducing the amount of material covered could make the pacing more manageable. This would allow you to slow down, pause more intentionally, and better gauge learner understanding. Throughout the session, there was very limited participation, and in many moments, there was not much room for learners to engage. Silence can often be a strong indicator that learners are struggling or unsure, so recognizing those moments and building on them by prompting learners or adjusting the pace could help create a more supportive and responsive learning environment.

Even with the limited time, it would have been helpful to pause more intentionally and give learners space to explain how they approach these types of questions. At several points, you asked whether a question was easy or hard, but you did not wait long enough for everyone to respond; you moved on once a single learner answered. If time does not allow for extended waiting, a more effective strategy would be to cold call learners by name and ask what they think. But this alone does not ensure participation; instead, asking learners to explain how they would approach a question is what truly encourages engagement and reveals their thinking. Hearing a learner’s thought process, even if it is incorrect, can be very valuable because it allows you to address common misunderstandings and helps other learners who may be thinking similarly. Instead, most of the explanation came directly from you, with an overall message of “this is easy, you can do it on your own,” which limited meaningful engagement and reduced opportunities to understand and build on the learners’ thinking.

You were friendly throughout the session, which helped maintain a comfortable tone. One area for growth would be adding a brief introduction at the beginning and inviting learners to introduce themselves as well. Using learners’ names during the session, when possible, can also strengthen rapport and make the environment feel more personal. Because participation was limited, there were fewer chances to offer words of encouragement, but incorporating names and small affirmations can help learners feel more comfortable engaging. Even though these may seem like small details, they go a long way in presenting you as someone who cares and in building a more welcoming and encouraging learning environment.
