About
I began my teaching career at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where I taught Spanish as a second language, English writing and composition, and American Studies. Later, I relocated to Puerto Rico, where I taught Spanish language and literature at a college for native speakers. Then, I transitioned to high school, where I have 17 years of experience teaching English language arts and literature. As I have taught both in AP Schools and IB schools, I am knowledgeable of how both systems work for the college application process.
Since 2010, I have worked with students on their college admissions essays. Since 2021, I have worked as an Independent Educational Consultant supporting students on their college applications, summer program applications, and other competitive award applications, such as the DE Presidential Scholar. My background as a PhD student and college instructor gives me in-depth knowledge of college admissions practices, terminology, and policies; my teaching experience gives me the skills to mentor students in their process. I am currently pursuing a certification as an Independent Educational Consultant at the University of California, Irvine, which I expect to complete by 2026, and I am a member of the Independent Educational Consultant Association (IECA).
