Bryan and Sreehan's Dialogue Club

    18th session

Join this virtual Dialogue Club to form a community with students from around the world. We hope to make this Dialogues Club enjoyable for those who want to talk and comfortable enough for those to be able to talk! 😁 - Feel free to message any of the co-presidents if you are unsure on what to do for a session or to leave any suggestions on what to do for following sessions! - Feel free to share this club with anyone else that you want to conduct civil discourse with! It is always fun to get more opinions on different topics!

Climate Change Dialogues Session

    Starts

Welcome to [Dialogues](https://schoolhouse.world/dialogues)! In this session, we will be discussing Climate Change and using this [Guide](https://schoolhouse.world/redirect?code=zwcDhB2MQm6BR0gbiFdzm). Here’s some helpful information to help you prepare for your session: 📌 Session introduction: At the start of the session, the event host will provide some introductory remarks about how the session will work and tips for discussion. 🧩 Discussion partner matching: All participants will be matched with a conversation partner to discuss with. If there are uneven numbers, you may have two conversation partners. 🤝 Breakout discussions: After the session introduction, everyone will switch to their breakout discussion. Your discussion will be unmoderated, so you can start when your partner arrives in the new Zoom link. 🗺️ Discussion Guide: You will have a topic-specific discussion guide for the session to help guide conversation. ⏰ Session length: The breakout discussions are scheduled for 45 minutes but you can discuss as long as you want! ✅ Stay on topic: Please make sure to stay on topic. If you and your partner run out of things to discuss, it’s okay to end the discussion early. You will not be returning to the main group when your conversation is over. 🤔 Make the discussion your own: You probably won’t have time to answer all the guide questions so pick and choose! Feel free to also bring in your own questions and ideas outside of the guide. 📝 Survey: A mandatory survey will appear at the end of your session to fill out. This must be filled out for you to get credit for the session in your Dialogues portfolio. 🤸‍♂️ Have fun: There is no preparation needed for this event. These conversations are meant to be casual, in addition to being meaningful. We hope you enjoy it!

Featured Feedback

Bryan kept a relaxed tone and spoke conversationally, which made the session approachable. His humor and comments like “this feels wrong” made math feel less intimidating. While the session didn’t include personal stories or direct student interactions, Bryan made it easy to learn without pressure. With more active feedback from students, he could build stronger learning relationships.

Thanks for going over grammar specifically, it really helped as it's the thing I was most worried about!

Learner · 7 mo. ago

I think you did an excellent job when it came to developing connections with your learners. This is because you were able to allow your learners to openly ask questions before answering them, ensuring they feel confident in slowly mastering the material. Additionally, you allowed all your learners to participate, which ensured a comfortable learning environment as they can freely express themselves. With your right tone and attitude, this session formed a community. Nice job!
