In this session, students will build confidence and clarity in their academic vocabulary through active, engaging strategies designed for older learners. We'll explore a selection of high-impact words commonly found in advanced reading, writing, and standardized tests (like the SAT or ACT). Students will: Learn the meaning, usage, and nuance of 5 essential academic vocabulary words. Practice applying new words in realistic, relevant sentences. Decode challenging words using context clues—like synonyms, antonyms, and examples. Strengthen critical reading and writing skills by understanding how word choice shapes tone and meaning. This session is perfect for high school students looking to enhance their language skills, prep for exams, or sound more confident in essays and discussions.

In Units 1 and 2 of AP U.S. History, I will explore the development of early societies in North America before European contact, as well as the effects of European exploration and colonization. I will learn about Native American cultures, the Columbian Exchange, early settlements, and the social, political, and economic structures of the British, Spanish, French, and Dutch colonies. I will also examine how interactions between Europeans, Africans, and Native Americans shaped the foundation of what would become the United States.

Each week we will go over a unit along with that I will give an optional assignment.
