You adequately checked the prior knowledge of the learner by asking her what her last unit was about and seeing if she was able to remember anything she learned from class. You adapted to the unique needs of the learners by constantly interacting with her while you were explaining the problems, and making sure that she is following along and understanding. One thing you can do to enhance active learning and participation is asking her questions in the middle of problems, to get her to think about the concept and use her previous knowledge to understand the new concept. However, it is clear that you tried to ensure that the learner benefited from the session.
