Your explanations are so articulate! I love the tips you included for Command of Evidence, as they were general enough to apply to all questions in that domain, yet specific enough to still be helpful. It's clear that you drew from your own personal experience, which is amazing! You clearly know your way around the SAT as well as know how to use that experience to be the best tutor you can be. I like how you didn't reread the entire questions for the learners, rather going in and pointing out the most important parts. It's great that you used annotations to make sure you're communicating clearly. I'm also a big fan of how you not only go through why a certain answer is correct, but also why the other answers are wrong, especially since process of elimination is key in SAT R&W. The reason I love your approach is because it simulates the order in which you might attempt the problem during an actual SAT, like going in to find the purpose first, which is extremely useful.

You were well prepared and had extensive knowledge about the SAT. The first question you reviewed was a great examples. You gave a clear description about why the answer was what is was, explained each answer choice, explained how you thought through each one, and then gave a broad description about the question type, how to approach it, and also just generally how to study for and practice that type of question. That is extremely valuable to learners. Providing other ways to review such as college board's vocal list and Princeton review is great. Make sure you are continuing to be this extensive in your explanation as long as time allows/it is needed by learners. Also great providing other opportunities to ask questions during future classes.

You do a great job supporting learners after they've shared, thanking them for doing so as well as affirming that their explanation was great. You have a very professional presence, making you come across like a teacher, which is why some learners might be nervous, but it isn't really a bad thing. It looks like your learners are gradually becoming more and more comfortable around sharing, and they all seem very invested in improving. Your group is great, in part because you are doing a great job supporting them.

Thank you so much for these sessions Anika! I really have learned so much these past few weeks and I really do feel a lot more comfortable with taking the SAT.
