I'm a molecular engineering major at the University of Chicago, investigating the role of immune infiltrates on tumor growth. My previous research work explored metastatic mechanisms in medulloblastoma and glioblastoma cancer cells. Outside of the lab, I play the clarinet, and like to run!

I am a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison, where I studied Molecular and Cell Biology and Scientific Communication. I currently work at an international biotechnology company working in their small molecule department as a scientist developing new medicines. I have a love of learning which has led me to be able to speak 3 languages which are English, German, and Turkish, and I am currently learning more. In addition to my academic studied, I also play numerous instruments. As a tutor, I am very passionate about helping students reach their full potential in all levels of school. I love school and want to help others gain the passion for learning and enjoy not only the outcome, but also the process. I tutor biology, chemistry, writing, German, Turkish, and a variety of AP classes to help students prep for their exams. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, playing D&D, and watching movies/TV shows.

Hello all! I'm Vardhan Avaradi, a student of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Florida and an avid student researcher interested in health equity. This session, I will provide a brief introduction about myself, share my research and education trajectory, with some experiences working with NIH's All of Us data to study cardiometabolic health disparities among sexual and gender minority (SGM) communities, and walk you through the thrilling triple threat of biostatistics, machine learning, and public health policy. We will also visit how research can be utilized to amplify marginalized voices and improve healthcare outcomes. Whether you are new to the realm of research or wondering how you can turn your passions into creating a difference, join me and learn, have questions answered, and be inspired to begin your own journey in science!

Hi! I’m Nikhil, a rising senior in college studying Applied Math, CS, and Education. Throughout college, I’ve done a few research projects in Spatial Data Science, including contributing to the development of a geospatial data analysis platform. I also used the GIS (Geographic Information Systems, i.e. computational geography) skills I learned to develop lesson material for an AP Statistics organization, and my work has since been used in over 1000 classrooms nationwide. More recently, I’ve conducted historical research into my University’s record of property ownership and its displacement of its surroundings, and our project has been well received by relevant academics within and beyond campus. Since January, I’ve changed gears a bit to immerse myself in the unique world of pure mathematics research, studying open problems in a field called Euclidean Ramsey Theory at the intersection of Geometry, Combinatorics, and Graph Theory. For my senior thesis, I plan to develop an alternative curriculum to improve engagement in high school math education using Discrete Mathematics. My path through research has hit many different interesting topics, which provided me with valuable experience and information about my own interests. I’m looking forward to sharing more and hopefully inspiring you to explore your research options down the line!

Hi everyone! My name is Claire and I’m a recent graduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I currently work as an Analytical Chemist at an international biotech company studying drug stability for numerous clients. I run basic and more advanced techniques such as ELISA and HPLC. I started out my undergraduate career researching protein functionality in a biochemistry lab and presented at my uni’s symposium. I was in 3 other labs including an integrative biology lab studying sexual characteristics of nematodes in which I presented a paper and gave a talk at symposiums. I researched anti-proliferation proteins in a biomolecular chemistry lab at the local hospital was published in Synthetic Biology journal of the American Chemical Society. I also studied abroad in Istanbul, Turkey and did molecular biology research on novel CRISPR mechanisms and attended a molecular biology conference. In addition I also did scientific communication research for a biotech company and earned a minor in scientific communication. Throughout my undergrad, I also worked and participated in numerous clubs in addition to my research. I look forward to sharing with you my research journey and helping you plan your own.
