Hi Jenny! My name's Jose C, it's great to meet you. So, I audited your session. (thanks btw for hosting a session on derivatives, admittedly a hard topic to tutor), and I really liked how you worked with the learner to do many, many practice problems with him, applying derivative rules such as the power rule. One thing I think you could improve is when you start your session. From personal experience, letting in learners about 5 minutes before a sessions starts allows you to get acquainted with them, while also letting them settle in, however too much time can make you seem unavailable and busy. Also, in terms of mastery, though it was evident that you knew what derivatives are and how to find them, you assumed that the learners had knowledge of what a derivative is and only got to explainig that once you had started covering rules on derivatives. Your explanation was a little shaky, which is fine (it happens to us all), so remember to try to practice explaining the topics before hand, and don't rush to cover derivative rules. Take your time, ask "What is slope," "What is a derivative," "What is a tangent line," etc. Hope this helps! You can message me on slack if you have any questions.
