SAT Writing Crash Course!

Ended Sun, Aug 15, 2021

We'll go over the basics of SAT writing. You're welcome to join no matter where you are in your SAT journey but this series will get you ready to take the exam by August 28. Sessions will be interactive and we'll do practice problems after each lesson. We'll also take two diagnostic tests, one at the start of the series and one at the end. After reviewing your first diagnostic test, you and I will work together to come up with goals. After that, you’re welcome to drop into office hours to discuss your progress and receive some targeted prep work and feedback. I’m looking forward to meeting you all! As for me, I got a 36 on ACT Reading/Writing and a 5 on the AP Lang exam.

You'll need to skim the 2019 prompt (https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/ap/pdf/ap19-frq-english-language.pdf) ten minutes before the session but we'll go through the speech line by line to identify rhetorical devices and begin writing a strong and cohesive essay. If you'd like to look at another prompt, please feel free to leave a comment!
