About

This College Admissions Workshop on The Essay is a virtual 4-week workshop designed to provide you with structure and support to write your college essays this summer.

In this workshop, you will:
  • Learn the purpose and the must-dos of the personal statement
  • Learn and practice strategies for picking a prompt, brainstorming, drafting, and revising your writing
  • Understand the role of supplemental questions and strategies for organizing your questions and responses
  • Work alongside other students who are also preparing to apply to college.

Hi everyone! My name is Marlene. I’m 42 years old and currently reside in NC, where I’ve been since 2009. Originally, I’m from Upstate NY, where I was born and raised. I’m a proud graduate student, working toward my Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. My passion lies in supporting others through the justice system, and I’m pursuing a career as a juvenile court counselor and victims advocate. I'm joining Schoolhouse to connect with a supportive learning community, sharpen my academic skills, and give back by helping others grow in their education.
