Solving equations & inequalities

Solving equations & inequalities

Sun 11:30 PM - Mon, 12:30 AM UTCNov 30, 11:30 PM - Dec 1, 12:30 AM UTC

Hello everyone! In this unit, we're going to dive into the essential skills for solving linear equations, equipping you with the tools to handle a variety of algebraic challenges.
Our main goals will be to master the following concepts:
1. Equations with Variables on Both Sides: We'll learn how to skillfully isolate the variable when it appears on both the left and right sides of the equation. This involves using inverse operations to gather all variable terms to one side.
2. Decimals and Fractions in Equations: We'll tackle equations that include rational numbers (decimals and fractions). We will explore strategies—like clearing fractions or multiplying by powers of 10—to make these equations easier to solve, ensuring you're comfortable with any format.
3. Reasoning with Linear Equations: Beyond just finding the answer, we will focus on understanding the structure of linear equations. We'll practice checking our solutions and using the properties of equality to justify each step of the solving process.
By the end of this module, you will have a deep understanding of how to set up, solve, and reason about linear equations, no matter how complex the coefficients or arrangement may be!
