About

Feel free to bring in your homework!
- In small group sessions, we’ll go over 1 Khan Academy unit per week. At the end of each session, we’ll do the Khan Academy unit test for that lesson as a group, and some problems individually.
- This series will cover linear, exponential, absolute value, and quadratic equations and will complete the entirety of Khan Academy’s Algebra 1 curriculum.
- This could serve as a great review, or put you well ahead of your Algebra 1 class!
- Please try to make it to every session with a pencil and paper, or some other way to do math problems!

SESSION 1

Solving equations & inequalities

Solving equations & inequalities

Thu 10:00 PM - 11:30 PM UTCOct 16, 10:00 PM - 11:30 PM UTC

We’ll begin with the Algebra foundations/Pre-Algebra unit test, then learn
- How to tell how many solutions an equation has
- How to solve an algebraic equation
- How to solve algebraic inequalities
- Solutions to compound linear inequalities
If time permits, we’ll finish with the unit test.
Pacing can be adjusted as needed!

Working with units

Working with units

Thu 10:00 PM - 11:30 PM UTCOct 23, 10:00 PM - 11:30 PM UTC

We’ll begin with the equations and inequalities unit test (if we didn’t get to it last time).

Then we’ll cover dimensional analysis (unit conversion) and word problems that test the same algebra skills we’ve been working on.

Pacing can be adjusted as needed!

SESSION 3

Linear equations & graphs

Linear equations & graphs

Thu 10:00 PM - 11:30 PM UTCOct 30, 10:00 PM - 11:30 PM UTC

We’ll be covering:
- Forms of two-variable linear equations (different ways to write the equation of a line)
- Finding x and y intercepts
- Two-variable equation word problems
At the end, we’ll do the unit tests for both units.

Systems of equations

Systems of equations

Thu 11:00 PM - Fri, 12:30 AM UTCNov 6, 11:00 PM - Nov 7, 12:30 AM UTC

We’ll cover:
- Solving systems of equations WITH absolute value
- Solving systems of equations graphically
- Solving systems of equations with substitution
- Solving systems of equations with elimination
- Number of solutions to systems of equations
We may also cover some geometry topics.
These can seem daunting to solve at first, but don’t be discouraged! :)

We'll be covering
- Solutions to systems of inequalities (from graphs)
- Solutions to systems of inequalities (through substitution or elimination)
- Writing equations for systems of inequalities given a word problem
We'll end with the unit test! If we have time, we'll also review function domain and range.
