About

Hey everyone! We are very excited to welcome you all to the fourth edition of the Schoolhouse Model United Nations!

What is an MUN and Why Should You Participate?
For those who may not be familiar with MUN, it stands for Model United Nations, which is a simulation of the United Nations, with delegates taking on the role of a country’s representative to discuss and find solutions to pressing global issues. MUNs are a great opportunity to develop your public speaking, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

About the Event:
The event will consist of opening and closing ceremonies, with training sessions for all delegates. There are four committees, with the details for each as follows:

United Nations General Assembly (UNGA): Maintaining International Cooperation and Peaceful Governance in Antarctica
World Health Organisation (WHO): Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance in Global Health
United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW): Identifying and combatting gender apartheid and the systemic segregation of women
Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC): Assessing state-sponsored cyber warfare and its threats to international security

The event will take place from 16th to 17th August, 2025 (Eastern Hemisphere time), with 3 committee sessions taking place everyday, each for one hour. Each delegate who attends at least half of the committee sessions will receive a participation certificate, and winners will receive certificates of excellence. The best delegates from each committee will also win Schoolhouse merchandise!

How to Participate:

1. Register for the Main Series to join the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Training Sessions.
2. Fill in the Committee Preference Form to select your preferred committee.
3. Get assigned to your committee and receive access to Committee Background Guides, Rules of Procedure, and the official MUN Brochure.
4. Register for your specific committee's series.
5. Prepare by reading the backgorund guides, trainings, attending the training session, researching your committee’s agenda, and familiarizing yourself with the issue as well as your country's stance on it.
6. Attend and participate in the conference, engaging in discussions, drafting resolutions, and collaborating on innovative solutions.

For further details, you can take a look at the official event Coda document.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the series public discussion below or reach out to @Hafsah M or @Anshu P, and we’d be happy to answer!

Note: If you’d like to join the event as an audience member, you are more than welcome to do so!

With diplomacy as your shield and empathy as your guide, you are challenged to tackle the world’s darkest crises and shape a brighter tomorrow. Will you rise to the call?

Hey everyone! I am Hafsah, a rising junior in high school from India, taking advanced-level coursework in school. I'm really passionate about anything related to cognitive science, math, CS, philosophy and linguistics. In my free time, I love to read, ski, research on random topics that catch my interest, do some cooking and learn new languages. I'm also a huge speech and debate enthusiast - I started participating in 4th grade and have never stopped since! I've taken the Digital SAT, with a superscore of 1530 (750 R&W, 780 Math). I'd be happy to help out with anything related to Math (from Pre-Algebra to Calculus), Science, Computer Science or SAT Prep. Excited to be a tutor here at schoolhouse, and I look forward to seeing you in my sessions!

Hey there, it's Anshu! I'm a curious person who loves to learn, explore, and research. Physics and Mathematics are my favourite subjects, and I could talk about them for hours. When I'm not busy unravelling the mysteries of the universe or diving deep into the mind-boggling world of physics theories and equations, you can find me hacking (don't worry, always ethically 😉), coding and losing myself in the pages of a great book. And if that's not enough, you might catch me debating in exhilarating MUNs! Looking forward to seeing you in my sessions!

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attending all sessions is encouraged, but due to the several different time zones, a participant must attend a minimum of 3 committee sessions, in addition to the opening and closing ceremonies, in order to receive a certificate of participation
