About

If you're about to start an AP Calculus class this school year and want a head start, this crash course is a great way to hit the ground running! We'll break down the three most important concepts—limits, derivatives, and integrals—into simple ideas, tackle real AP-style problems together, and build the confidence you need to walk into class ready to go.

I'm a student who scored a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam last year (and helped a bunch of my classmates along the way, haha), and I designed this series to share what helped me truly understand the material, especially for beginners or anyone feeling nervous about calculus. No experience needed beyond precalculus—we’ll start from the beginning!

Hi there! I'm Hotaru — a high school student from the U.S. with a passion for learning and plans to pursue a career in medicine. I love helping others feel confident in what they’re learning through tutoring. I tutor all levels of math (up through calculus) and also enjoy working with students on reading and writing — especially as an editor on the Schoolhouse Blog Team! I'm happy to support language learners in beginner Japanese as well. When I’m not tutoring, you’ll probably find me reading, running, or baking something sweet. :)
