About

What would you do if you were in charge of a whole country?

In this series, you will get the chance to step into the shoes of a President. You'll learn about how presidents rise to power, maintain power, and using that power to create political change.

Each week, you’ll take on a new part of being president, such as preparing your platform, responding to issues the country is facing, and responding to crises.

While this course is very fun and interactive, we will also explore current political current events, learn about the powers of the President, and prepare you for any course that has to do with U.S. government!

Step 2: Your First 100 Days in Office

We will explore how Presidents make their first political decisions. From cabinet appointments to gaining the trust of the American people, the first 100 days are arguably the most important. Sometimes, presidents betray their supporters, make surprising shifts, and even attempt to sway the hearts and minds of Americans rather than producing actual policy. We will also create our own executive orders together!

Following this, we will examine the first 100 days of the Biden and Trump (2025) presidencies using the knowledge we have about the executive branch.

We will then move on to a conversation about the recent smudging of the roles of the executive and judicial branch.

A conversation with a former Presidential candidate
In our final session of the course, we will have a conversation with someone who ran for President in 2024! Frankie Lozada ran in the 2024 Democratic Primary against incumbent Joe Biden and a very narrow field of candidates. He will share the challenges he faced as he ran within a primary system that was favourable to an incumbent who dropped out shortly after winning his delegates.

Now a registered independent, Frankie will share a non-partisan account of his experience running for president and how we can find common ground across the spectrum.
