About
Engaging in Dialogues offers a unique opportunity to explore life's essential topics in one-on-one conversations with others online 🌟. Dialogue Clubs meet every other week to discuss a new topic. While some subjects may spark controversy, these discussions provide a wonderful platform to share your perspective in a respectful and meaningful way 🫶. Participating in three or more Dialogue sessions will provide you with a Dialogue portfolio that you can submit with your college applications to our university partners. Embrace the chance to connect, express, and expand your understanding of the world together! 🌷

✋ ATTENDANCE POLICY
-Attend sessions every other week.
-Notify your Club President 24 hours before the session if you can’t make it.
-You may be removed from the club if you miss more than 3 sessions.
Note from Schoolhouse: This series has sessions with required attendance. If you need to miss a required session, submit an absence using the "Submit Excused Absence" button on the series page. Multiple unexcused absences may lead to a suspension of your Schoolhouse account.

Here are some basic reminders!!
📌 Session introduction: At the start of the session, we will provide some introductory remarks about how the club will work, and so we can all meet one another.
🧩 Discussion partner matching: All club members will be matched with a different conversation partner each session. If there are uneven numbers, you may have two conversation partners.
🤝 Breakout discussions: After the session introduction, everyone will switch to their breakout discussion. Your discussion will be unmoderated, so you will start when your partner arrives in the breakout.
🗺️ Discussion Guide: We will have a topic-specific discussion guide for each session to help guide conversation. You can review the schedule of topics and each discussion guide by going to the session page.
⏰ Session length: The breakout discussions are scheduled for 45 minutes but you can discuss as long as you want!
✅ Stay on topic: Please make sure to stay on topic. If you and your partner run out of things to discuss, it’s okay to end the discussion early. You will not be returning to the main group when your conversation is over.
🤔 Make the discussion your own: You probably won’t have time to answer all the guide questions so pick and choose! Feel free to also bring in your own questions and ideas outside of the guide.
📝 Survey: This mandatory survey will appear at the end of your session to fill out. This must be filled out for you to get credit for the session in your Dialogues portfolio.
🤸♂️ Have fun: There is no preparation needed for this event. These conversations are meant to be casual, in addition to being meaningful. We hope you enjoy it!
